So I bought out a friend's equipment...

PTO...6008 Blower

SS Waste and fresh tanks...large

Lots of room inside...

I'd just like to get a little more heat...

It has a coolant heat exchanger...And an exhaust heat exchanger...

I'm leaning towards propane...maybe a Hotamatic #4...

What do you guys think?

Would you consider a fuel oil burner unit? Pros and cons?

Thanks in advance!- Jim

ps...I know the 10 foot ceiling in the garage is a little low!

jim that is a loaded question.

what will the truck be used for?

will this be your main truck now?

what heat are you looking to get?

do you mind "BUYING" heat or do you want free heat?

What kind of motor is pushing the heat? ie is that a diesel or is that an ls1 hooked up to 4l60e?

i will call you tommorow as there are some easy ways to pull 'Free" heat out of that system i just need to see the complete coniguration. and i am very interested in seeing the exhaust diverter.

p.s. if you are up now go ahead and give me a ring.

Not enough heat from the coolant AND exhaust??

Try descaling the system first, those coils might be coated in scale not giving you 100% of the heat available.

Thanks for the descaling idea, Ashley.
Michael...It is a 4 cyl turbo diesel engine...the GMC W4500 42k miles

I would like it to be my main truck...using the Duramax van with ProChem Everest now

Don't mind buying heat...the gigantor truck only runs about 200 now...after warming it up...I'd like 225 at the start...and be able to adjust up if needed.

The exhaust diverter is a 2" gate valve in the exhaust system...

Hey Michael...coolant exchanger is a box...approx size 30' length...18 inches width...14" height ss construction

The exhaust heat exchanger is in the box...just a little smaller in size

I will give you a call just after 8am my time. Thanks

Jim why not hook up the (included) extra throttle cable and bump it up a few hundred RPM'S. This would be my first (inexpensive) try. Which might be enough , do to the 6008 load increase. I looked into Propane to use as a last step booster, but wasn't quite clear about adjusting the temp control knob (higher) and flow etc. The jets would have to be just right so not to need an external flue. Very nice looking truck great presence. Wind shield?

How about a hotter thermostat on the machine engine. I have dual liquid exchangers, exhaust exchanger and a blower pre heat exchanger and I can run 240+ all day long.

Custom, Ashley!

Good idea Charlie!...I think it is running a bit slow...I'll check the rpm!

Before you start to change things I think it is important to check the temp rise of both exchangers individually and also make sure that they are running efficiently. Also you might want to consider a coolant preheated fresh tank as that would be more efficient heat transfer overall instead of just A preheating box.
