Hide your van and call him see what he does. Maybe he just doesn't understand the value of his work.

Usually, these guys are good upsellers. Notice in his ad, he says "dining area". That price is only good if it is a combined liv/din room, for a separate dining room, he will add another charge. He is only doing traffic areas, not moving any furniture. Probably not pre vacuuming or scrubbing. Pre spray and rinse extract. If he upsells a little protector or deodorizer or extra rooms/ upholstery, etc. he will make a good living. For averaged soiled carpets, his jobs will look great and if he pays attention to his drypasses, his drying times will be quick. What's not to like if you don't know any better? Put him side by side with Mikey and have Mikey do all the extras that he does, the customer will be blown away by the attention to detail and how much better their carpets look. That's the challenge. How do you communicate the quality of your work compared to the guy down the road to your customers. How do you justify your prices.

Maybe
reality is...it doesn't take the WGCC'er to make average soil well maintained carpets look and BE great.
Pretty good chance half and more working families won't/can't justify an additional $400 for an Oryx , CRB and Mike's minty fresh breff

I don't live or work in the Tahoe area, but I've visited many times. Seems like that's one market where there is room for a premium cleaner. Some of the most expensive real estate in the west coast. Not sure with that kinda income guys would charge bottom dollar prices. Shooting themselves in the feet.
