On the ICS forum about glides.

...we used to be a strong believer in glides for years. Lately however we have changed our views with the new research available. I feel they still have there place but there are better ways to clean and dry carpets for my company.

Robert Allen.

What the heck is this moron smoking?

yeap idiots do exist, just when you think there aren't any around. guess they have never used GreenGlides before!! only thing they could be talking about is charging for quick drying using a fan, because they would have to leave the carpet wetter to sell that service.

different strokes for different folks I guess

I will tell you one thing, a hole glide doesn't clean as deep as slot or unglided wand on cut piles

That statement there put the final nail in the coffin. I wonder what it's like to spend a few hours with a guy like that. I'll take someones word for it.

Three reasons for making that statement.

He has freeflow yapping to him on his chat room.

He doesn't have Greenie participating on ***.

His company is a vacation move out specialist. quick moving college kid hack chimps.)

I've been wanding with my right arm for a long time until it started hurting a couple weeks ago. It forced me to start wanding with my left arm. The greenglides saved the day! It made the transition to left handed wanding nice-n-smooth.

ok, I'm lying! The real reason i bought greenglides is because i wanted a pair of those nifty little dog tags.

*** welcomes Ken Harris as their glide expert.

Complaints surface about Ken not shippng product.

Rob Allen decides glides are bad.

*** is a forum for all the suppliers who couldn't stand up to the scrutiny of Mikeysboard. The Allens welcomed them with open arms and low standards. Good riddance.

You know, you don't have to agree with Rob, heck we seldom agree on everything, but to hear pure unadulterated shit like that, makes me wonder if he's not on drugs? Has he got any idea how much shit I'm gonna give him over the 2.5" hose and glide comments?
I think I will call Rob today.

I normally fly pretty low under the radar, but Rob and Tre rub me the wrong way.

One thing I can't stand is a hypocrite.

This guy gives our industry and another group of people a bad name.

It's like a chocolate iced turd. The outside looks great, but it just doesn't smell quite right. Then once you get past that icing....

That depends on how much you prep the carpet, ie prspray and prescrub, and how fast you pull your wand and at what flow and pressure.
I'm cleaning just as deep but getting it twice as dry.
Not to mention its such a breeze to move it!

I wondered if I was the ONLY one who caught the SECOND DA post on this thread?

DAP or not, it's true

Hybrid or Slot glide on shags and freise', you need some fiber "lift", the holes just push it over onto it's side....that is about the only time I would suggest a specific glide.

hole glide doesn't clean as deep on cut piles for the same reason it's not the best choice for shags and freise .

Shags yes..but the "average" cut pile...I'd say the hole is fine.

I don't know what the "magic" yarn length is that the slot pulls ahead, maybe 3/4"? But there is a night and day difference between a slot and a hole on a 3/8" yarn that we see each and every day.

I don't really disagree with you on that, Greenie
cause most guys only clean the top 1/3 of the fiber anyway and it's more about "appearance".

But a hole glide won't flush deep spills/urine contamination etc oncut piles like a slot as it parts and sucks yarn bundles into it.
And especially on heavy weight, dense cut piles

you don't get that action with a hole glide no matter how slow the wand is pulled.

I have to admit I reach for my slot more and more these days. The biggest reason is I can REALLY reset the nap on those troubled fibers with some heat and a slot.

What industry study or quote from a respected source supports that statement?
