the truck went into limp mode. Last week it happened once on the turnpike and then 3 times the next day. You basically turn the engine off and wait a minute and she's good to go. In my case, it's rust coming from the sending unit. I paid 1200 to have them coat the inside of the tank a while ago and then again 8 months later because they didn't coat the top of the tank. It was their cost that time but I still lost a day's pay. I noticed when he pulled it how rusty the sending unit was. The mechanic said it's hardly ever enough rust to cause a problem. I pulled the in and out fuel line from the filter manifold and blew high pressure air through it. Pretty large amount of rust came out. Isuzu is aware of the problem but since it happens out of warranty doesn't fix it. The simple fix would be to put a manifold that can handle the rust and not get clogged. Then let the filter do its job. What use is a filter if the manifold clogs. I bought a sediment filter which I'm going to mount before the filter and put an earth magnet in it. I wish I had thought of that before. I'm going to get a new sending unit and take it to my radiator guy and have him coat it. To avoid dropping the tank again I'm going to make an access port in my box. I hope this finally ends it.
