...Why shouldn't I just mix my rinse in the tank like a portable instead of using a mix jug?

For the most part? Yes! I honestly can't think of when I've rinsed with water only without it being in error.

You could, but chemical metering gives you far more choices on what to use when extracting.

Not that more choices here is really neessary. If I encounter a nasty, I put down the heavy stuff with the Hydro-Force, and then rinse while extracting with a fresh fragrance.

You do need a reliable chemical injection system.

Not that I'd do the mixing in the tank, mind you. Mostly asking just to satisfy a curiosity,

Every job gets the same treatment?

I generally run the same rinse(low ph) on every job. You find a good one why switch? I guess if it's a rat nasty I might go to an emulsifier.

How are you using different styles of rinse products, Mike?

If your chem injection is of the last step variety, then the chems don't run through the pump, possibly extending it's lifespan. Mixing it in the tank not only exposes the pump to the chemical, it basically soaks in it 24 hours a day unless you purge the pump with fresh water at the end of the day...

If you mix chems in your fresh water tank, for some reason it will sour and smell worse than your dump tank if left for several days.
Also, mold will develop- so if you do, be prepared to have to clean the fresh water tank out regularly.
We did it for a short time while our chem feed was down and that is what I noticed.

Bane's run that way in principle. Mix up your chemicals for the days cleaning in the storage tank. You can dial in your prespray a little more specifically to your individual cleaning jobs throughout the day.

Bob;

Since you have a fresh water float tank also,
you can use a rinse in the 75 gal fresh tank or use water only in the small float tank.

Is the TM providing the cleaning ability you wanted ?

I have many clients where on the same job, I'd clean wool, synthetic and other natural fibers.
If the rinse you run is an acid rinse, pre-mixing in the fresh water tank will be fine. I like to run an alkaline rinse on synthetics (better results imho) and neutral or acid rinse on others. Therefore no premixing.

Not to mention the fact that I don't have (or need) a fresh water tank :winky:.

Hey Larry!

I love the machine! Thank you for a quite enjoyable visit to your facility (it's quite a place you have there). It was my pleasure meeting you, Marie and the rest of the staff. You all contributed to making my much needed road trip well worth it.

i have done that if my meter stops working for some reason. i don't believe your pump will last as long, as least in my experience. i use fiber rinse from bridgpoint for almost everything anyway including upholstery. i occasionally switch to fabset for a silk or real delicates. the problem is tile cleaning. i did it before and it didn't show but it would depend on the gloss of the tile and how much product. your better off not doing it.

As a bane guy I premix in the fresh water and have never had it sour or go bad. I suppose if you used just well water it may smell funky.

There are times I wish I had control over my rinse agent but its not very often. I use cleanfree for my rinse now and I use it about half strength. I clean a lot of apartments so this works for me.
If I want enzymes or whatever thats what I will prespray with. I have been using pump ups and a hydraforce but I just bought a cordless sprayer to make things easier.

Since I'm on a Safe Solution kick right now ( Procyon and One Earth, water rinse is just fine

Back in the day of the junk 700 psi Chem pump we pulled the whole thing off our Vortex and would add to the tank as needed...royal pita.

Depending on what you use .. I know a guy that puts his detergent in his 55 gal barrel fresh water and theres a slime that grows along with what looks like maybe mold .. not sure but Im thinking thats probably not good.

I knew another guy running a detergent thru his pump causing failure due to build up without descaling.

I know another guy that pours his rinse in the fresh water tank with no problem ever running thru his pump.

Ive experienced chemical meter failure one too many times so I add to the fresh tank as well.

Id say yeah add your rinse agent to your fresh tank and if you want water rinse only, then bypass the fresh tank by going direct using quick disconnects for tile cleaning. Also flush your pump with your bypass set up to be on the safe side at the end of the day.

That's a great idea. I've gotten so reliant on the tank it didn't even dawn on me, plus I've gotten lazy.

Hi Kellie,

To answer your question as Steve 64 already referenced.. if you want to use an enzyme product for a particular job you would have to change your prespray to address your cleaning needs. Like Steve, I had a pump up and an electric sprayer and a couple extra hydroforce inline spray jugs to mix up specific presprays for job too big for the pump ups or electric. It was kind of annoying and inconvenient especially when the entire tank was made up with an alkaline rinse and you really wanted or needed an acid side rinse.
Bane claimed their residential alkaline emulsifiers were safe to be used on both carpet and upholstery without issue...again, just change the prespray if you needed extra punch on a nasty. I never had any problems or call backs.

I never had any problems with my tank getting any funky smells or odors so I can't speak to that issue and I had well water at the time too.

It just seems like too much of a pain to do it that way. I like having just my freshwater, just my headpack that I can fill with what I want for each job and my presprayer that I can fill as needed with the job situation.
