The wye (u) is totally incompatable with smooth airflow. The turbulence would nullify any gains made with the second hose. The connections are restrivctive as well. I can't comment on the truck set up, because they don't show that. I bet that u fitting is thick as shit and weighs about 10 lbs.!
If they are running free flow in that truck, it will never perform significantly better than what it was set for. That is the weakness of the free flow system. It only works optimally on the set up it was tuned with. If you change hose length, diameter, filtration, wand, glide, etc. you have just messed up the lift/cfm. you need a dynamic/live relief system to test different set ups.

Why on earth didn't you provide Nick with one of your thin-walled stainless wye's? They were really sweet, nice airflow. Are you still making those?
Jeff's wye's are great too, hard anodized aluminum, very thin wall and a perfectly symetrical Y to minimize turbulence.
