Please tell the positives and negatives of running a fabric softener as a rinse.
I understand it has a PH of 5-6. If it is used will it do anything the protector I put down?

I have never done this but have heard of several that do.

I have never done it only because i wouldn't know how much to put in the bucket...but i know other people who do it and it sounds like a good idear..lol.

I know it doesn't have a lot of clean-ability. But I would be careful to use it. Reason is laundry products are meant to be used with lower temperatures(low temperature detergents), while carpet cleaning chemicals are made for heat.

I've used it in a bissel cleaner with great success though.

I have never really wanted to use it but I have heard over the years people that do so I was wondering what the GURUs would say.

I'm not a guru of course.....more like a cranky nearly old man.

Since I am not part of the IICRC as an instructor or board member any longer, I feel no need to lecture on pH or polarity.

That said, I wouldn't spray it topically in any high concentration onto carpet, as enough of it probably would create a sticky residue, but I don't have tests I've done myself to back it up.

Carpets dry soft if you don't leave a lot of "stuff" in them.

Nothing new there.

My carpets have always dried soft. I use a good amount of prespray and very little rinse chem.

Working for BLUEline I ran into a few guys that told me they rinsed with Fabric Softener. I think for the nice clean smell.

One one of the lager companies in dfw uses downy and actually tell/instructs their subs to use the fabric softener as well.
