A true friend taught me a lesson many years ago. He is an accountant but owns various businesses rather than practicing accountancy.
He did some tax accounting work for me and I offered to pay him for that and also tried to give him a discounted cleaning.
His response
"Do not insult me-I can afford to pay and you have a living to make If I was in business as an accountant I would charge you for the work that I have done. What I did for you was as a friend."
For over 20 years I have done a lot of cleaning work for him and his businesses - always at standard rates.
And I am still proud to call him a friend.

Dealing with dickerers should be part of your normal operation, not something to take personally. Sort of like comedians having to learn to take on a heckler. I'd be inclined to tell my friend the car dealer that if he tries to knock the price down anymore he's getting a knuckle rub - and move on with normal pricing.

It's fine to ask someone if that's the best price. Several people have asked me that, and I the same. If the person says, "no"...move on.
But when I told him that I can't go any lower...he wouldn't stop dickering with me. The dickering was going on for 10min, and he was almost harassing me about it.

But good news on the side, I received a text message from him last night, saying that they're gonna put it off until fall of this year.

I caught myself sounding like a little bit.. this past week over a couple customers and situations. The subject matter was all over the board from plain respect to pricing and I knew some of them quite well. We're all making snap decisions on the phone and out in the field. Some folks have thicker skin then others; mine can be thin at times. I think your "friend" needs to find another cleaner. You need a break from him as I don't think your frustration (which is valid) is going to subside. And every Tom/Dick and Harry needs to freeking listen to what Ofer is saying. Just slow down and listen.
