Gettin into the Methylethylbadshitzone der Tex : )Whats its Flash Point?
Many years ago (the 70's, I think...) I used to refurb aircraft - exterior paint, interior paint and carpet/upholstery dyeing. The dye was MEK-based. One summer day, I had just finished dyeing a carpet in a little six-place plane (regular autobody spray gun) and I was using a rag soaked in MEK to wipe dye off the chrome trim strips that held the carpet down.
I closed the doors to reach the carpeted door trim panels. After about 20 minutes I felt pretty good, like I was floating and stuff. I opened the door and hopped out, and promptly collapsed in a heap. My legs were like rubber. The other guys carried me over to an old aircraft seat and set me down - it was about an hour before I could stand up.
My head hurt for a week.
I learned the need for proper ventilation that day.....
