Phone Number - No Presence

Anyone here target a community apart from where you are based with a permanently call forwarded phone number from that community? Customers ever give you feedback when they realize what you are up to?

I do that, but in reverse. The number I've had for 40 years in my previous town is now forwarded to my cell phone. I also have a local number here now.

No problem at all.

I do it even though the area is really only 15 miles away. It makes you look local and just a few years ago it was long distance to cross the county line. Many of my customers know where I live but none have questioned it as a deceptive practice. It will also help your website rankings.
