pimpin out a porty

Ok people talk about pimpin out their TM's how about us folks just starting out with porty's. Anyone have ideas to improve performance of the machine without buying a TM? I have an Eclipse that runs 3 vacs and per manufacturer has 249" of water lift. It has a small internal heater and up to 500 psi. It uses a 1 1/2 vac hose and a 2 jet wand with I think 01 jets. I bought the equipment from Cleancraft products. What can I do to make my porty better? Would getting a better wand help? Any advice would be appreciated.

get a greenhorn wand from greenie with a glide, add a vac booster from Nordic 1, use 2 inch suction hose, and if the unit stays in the van. I would add a little giant heater.

Did you say 01 jets?

change that to 110 03 stainless.

Ditto on the 2" hose barb on the tank, would also be a good candidate for a 25' Cobra tapered hose, starts out 2" ends up in 1.5".

Since your vacs are in series, you will still have the same base 100 cfm, it's a shame they don't run them in parallel, but you can make use of the additional lift with the bigger hose.

The Elec. heat is really just gonna warm the water and set you up to pop the occasional breaker, could slam a spare QD into the sol. line and drop it in the tank for a free flowing preheat while setting up the job, I doubt it'll get to 140ºf by it's self without a hot water fill up, but by the time you set up but it could serve as a pre-heater.

Given your flow and pressure, I'd skip the wand upgrade, you can make that 2 jet work for now. They are probably using a CMP or PMF wand with the unit, so a glide will be easily fitted.

You have something to scrub with right?

I will check into getting the larger jets for my wand. At this time I do not have anything to scrub with other than the wand. I guess I need to seriously think about getting a 175 or a rotovac. Finances are tight right now so I have to make small improvements until I get some good cash flow. would changing to a 2" hose or the Cobra hose make a noticeable difference? I also looked close at my wand and could not find any markings on it to identify the brand. How can I tell who the manufacturer is? Thanks for the info.

For scrubn you would be surprised how much agitation you can get with a quickie push broom from Lowe's. It is not a 175 but it beats a Grandi brush.

Just wanted to say send out a big thank you to Greenie and Lisa. I spent some time with Jeff on the phone today and he has really given me some great info on how to take my portable unit to the next level. For someone new to the business, I found Jeff to be very helpful and insightful. Thanks again for yours and Lisa's help on getting me squared away. I will keep you posted on how the changes with my porty work out.

With thanks,
Steve

I have taken the plunge and removed the 1 1/2 hose barb from my machine and replaced it with the larger 2" barb. I have a 25' Cobra hose from Greenie as well as a glide for the wand. I also swapped out the 2 110 01 jets for some stainless steel 110 03 jets. I have only been able to do some cleaning on my own carpets with new set up and lets say I am very happy. It is strange to think that I am putting a lot more water down with the 03 jets and yet the carpet so much dryer afterward. Once again thanks to Greenie and Lisa. They helped me pimp out my porty.

Good to hear all is well with your Eclipse.

Larry, that looks pretty sharp, what vac motors are you running on that unit? How many amps does the 800 psi (general?) pump pull?

Can it hold a steady 800, or are you getting more or less from it?
What size jets in the spinner tool?

The pump & motor hold a steady 2.1GPM @ 800 PSI.

Several of them have been in service for about three years.

Most have one 3-stage and one 2-stage to operate on 15 amps each circuit.

One has two 3-stage vacs which requires 20 amps on the main circuit.
