Hey...if you are near Allenwood NJ...you MUST check this out in the next 7 hours...an ebay auction that INCLUDES a 2000 name customer database...and a Prochem 405 with tools...from a guy that is retiring.

Price is very realistic right now...

http://cgi.ebay.com/CARPET-CLEANING-EQU ... 4aa8570c9f

Instead of going through all the hoops in trying to convince new folks to call your business...why not just buy an existing one? You get all the calls...just make sure someone very friendly is answering the phone!

I've been watching as well, because I'm always keeping an eye out for 405's.

(kinda feel sorry for the guy...that his biz has come down to this)

Jimbo makes a great point..!

Some of the best values in advertising is to purchase "THE ENTIRE COMPANY"

Carpet Cleaning companies are "dropping like flies"...! Find companies that are going
out of business: retiring: or moving....These are a guaranteed "customer base"

Why "Start from scratch"...and throw $5k...into a marketing program...?
Buy a company that has established client's...for "pennies on the dollar"..!!!
If you have any TALENT at all...."You should be able to convert them with little EFFORT."

The deal that Jim has posted: "Has at least $7500.00 in equipment value ALONE"

This is the FASTEST & MOST efficient way to "GROW YOUR BUSINESS".....

LOOK...for Local businesses that are selling...!!!!!
Not only are you buying "INSTANT JOBS"..."You are also eliminating competition..!"

INCREASE YOUR MARKET SHARE........ !gotcha!

Hey Lee...you could probably buy the unit and tools...and resell the database and phone # for the price of the unit!

Used car lot!...I like that Fred...that's why a lot of folks don't go there...I like to drive through the car sales places...then when a bunch of killer bees in three piece suits are following my car around...drive off!

thats a good deal to start up with. Out of 2000 customers you're sure to keep 25%, and you can farm the rest to get more eventually. Not bad for under 6grand

You should snag that setup, Brian...then find a guy to run it!...you need a NJ affiliate, right?
Customer list...tools,etc...Just make sure you get the phone # in the deal...that's the real value...then you could lease the equipment to the sap you find to run it...Heck you could probably keep 70% with that setup!

I have a guy in NJ....no he isn't the one selling out. lol

I don't ever take more than 50%...I'm not like Harper trying to smoosh the little guy so he can swoop in and clean up the scraps.
That guy is something else. Ivebeensold

It would be nice if he just built his business by himself instead of "aquiring" the hard earned business of some other guy who didn't know how to run his.

There's enough business for all of us. Some just think there isn't when they aren't getting any.

If you're slow...it's not your competition.....It's YOU!

This has been a moment with Brian. 8) !gotcha! 8)

Just another reason when you retire you better own some serious assets and not bet on selling your business.

Re: Please leave this in the Real Making Money Room, Right H

He's asking $30,000.00

Go get'm tiger! !gotcha!

Edit: Fair price is probably that BUT it's not a fair world AND it's not a good time to sell.

So I figure if you don't do the % and buy it outright ....about $15,000.00

Again, proabably not the "Fair" price.

Edit again: Portable equipment? $10,000.00

For your local guy...2k for the phone #

Hopefully Jersey Shores is not shooting for 30 k...if he was...he should have used a reserve price.

So Brian...you know I am sporting with you a bit...how about I buy the NJ biz/equipment...get a van to throw it in...and you find a guy to run it...handle all the details...split 50% to the local guy...26% to you...24% to me, In perpetuum

Works for me...I may have a guy to do the work. shiteatinggrin

Harper...more details are good...but I can probably figure it out a bit.

Offer him $15,000.00 to be paid out at $1250 per month.

That way you'll make 50% the first year.

Everything is negotiable Jimbo!

Harp, are you buying the van?....Or does it come with the business whether you buy it or not?

If you're just buying a customer base and a phone number...maybe some very small ads....Offer him $7500.00 and with the same deal cut in half.

Re: Please leave this in the Real Making Money Room, Right H

I wasn't sure if it was helping the guy or buying a business.

You should be able to turn 30 g a year into something and give the guy a monthly rate.

Isn't that what you did for the others...whether they had something to sell or not?

But I guess that would be the YP payment.

Too bad for him.

Re: Please leave this in the Real Making Money Room, Right H

This company would NOT be a canidate for a 20% to 30% refferal fee...

He also does carpet repairs also...that is about 30% of his gross..We don't do repair's..!

His pricing structure would not be anywhere near compatible with ours...
He charges $35.00 for the 1st room & $20.00 for additional areas.......

He also does apartments...($45.00)...."Not going to happen"

I will try to find him a buyer...."NO COMMISSION TO ME"

Ps..I HAVE NEVER...ACTIVELY PERSUED THE PURCHASE OF ANY CARPET CLEANING CO....!
They come to ME...!!! "It seems ...I am some sort of HOSPISE for these older cleaners."
I would like to think that ...I have EARNED their respect over the years...! WE never BASH
our competition..!

Pss..Before you suggest it...! WE don't operate..."spin-off"...Low end companies...!

"It is kinda like "...Thinking you can "get-away" with having an AFFAIR...
"SOONER OR LATER"...."IT WILL BITE YOU IN THE ASS".....

Re: Please leave this in the Real Making Money Room, Right H

a guy in Victoria wanted to sell his busn for 12G, but his pricing and services were adequate but more hackish.
He also did lots of repairs etc.
The guy that did buy it (not sure for how much) did so only for the name. The buyer had only been in his own busn for a couple years, the seller for about 20. He bought it for the name and turned a one truck operation into a 4 or 5 truck operation, with office, secretary, shop etc, even a Revolution and Rug Wash tank. They've won BBB Torch awards each year for the past 6.

I'm shocked that you don't even offer basic carpet repair services.

What do you tell a client if they ask you to fix a loose stair or the metal strip in a doorway?
