Way back when, right after my son started working with me, I caught him with a sample of that other forums products on his van. I had to inform him of his rights (or his lack of them) and who the cool kids are.
Did you ever try any of their products? Is it snake oil

Here is the job I mentioned. Didn't have any hope of really improving it and let them know the carpet needed replacement rather than cleaning. Used Harvard's Citra-zov spraying with a 4-1 in-line sprayer and rinsing with Procyon plus powder. Prochem Apex. Had 5 Chinese ladies oohing and aahing over how well it came up.

I didn’t think they sold it in powder anymore? I used to buy it in 50 lb boxes.
I'm down to my last jar. It's one of my most versatile products. They have priced themselves out of the market, especially for Canadians when you add in the exchange rate and shipping costs. I'm trying a couple of alternatives that claim to be similar but not getting the same results. I use it often in portables as there is no foaming.

I don’t use it much anymore . I keep a couple of gallons around for wool.
Everybody talks about what a nice guy Ivan was, and I did like him, but I’ll never forget the extreme difference between the sample he sent me to try and the actual product he sent when I ordered it. It always left a bad impression.

For residential, for a long time I was using the liquid Extreme as my prespray and using the Plus powder as my rinse. Although the Extreme was wool safe, only used it on wall to wall wool. Too high an initial pH for area rugs even though it was self neutralizing.

I’ve wondered if Carpet Detail’s is a suitable alternative to Procyon.
I was at my supplier a few weeks ago, and was going to pick up a 6.5 lb jar of Procyon, and when they rang it in, it came out to 118.00 !!!!!
No fookin way I’m paying that!!!!

What’s the difference between area rug wool and wall to wall wool? The dyes?
The dyes exactly. On a wool rug prone to bleeding, the Procyon can be too aggressive. In the shop we use specialty products mainly from Chemmax for these rugs. They have several products that help prevent or control bleeding. Their LST product is a great cleaner and very safe.

I’m certainly not arguing with you but I have to say I’ve never experienced bleeding on a wool rug in 36 years using Procyon
I’ll probably bleed one tomorrow now that you brought it up.

I buy Procyon Powder from www.Janilink.com Last time it was #383.00 for 50 lbs now it's 403.00 plus another $35.00 for shipping.

I'm VLM and use it to clean my bonnets

50 lbs will last me for one year
