Pricing?

Since I am still a newbie and have not cleaned nearly as many carpets as most all of you in this site. I just wanted to get your thoughts on pricing. I have been charging .40 sq/ft. and doing fine which includes basic spot care and deodorization. I only have charged extra for protection. I guess what I am asking is when would you charge more for spot care and Deod. and how much are people charging and how large is the spot. This is really a gray area for me.

My way of handling the spotting issue is to not charge anything extra if I can remove the spot with the wand. Even if I have to apply something extra like POG for instance. However, if I have to apply a hot iron to remove the spot, or if the spot removal process requires extra dwell time (waiting) like with some urine treatments or coffee removal, then I will charge extra.

With the type of spotting chemicals available to us today, rarely does it take more than a quick squirt and a kick with the shoe.
