What are you printing out, receipts?

Why not send an email along with some links to leave you a review, a link to your spot cleaning tips and so on and so forth..

Good idea Mikey. I'm new to all of this and trying to figure it all out as far as using my tab instead of buying invoices. I'm still trying to find a good app for the invoices.

Two people a year will demand a paper invoice.

As a new biz you need to think of ANY excuse to collect emails

With either of the above programs uphill be able to send future reminders and offers/specials for zilch..

DON'T LET THEM FORGET ABOUT YOU.

Ty. I've been cc for over 20 years but am jumping in FT now. I built very strong roots as 95% is referral. Your absolutely right about the e-mail. I've always relied on Postal Service but they are getting very expensive and careless around here!

Play it off as a very good thing to the customer. Mel tells them all "We are a paperless company", while telling them to expect the prep email.

Assure them that an email is better because you're not using paper and don't need to worry about filing it somewhere. You will have it on file, and so will they...in their email.

We've been using Service Monster for years now. It's excellent on a desktop and serviceable in the field on an iPad.

Besides Rich, you'll already have their email addy when you collected it when they first called you.

Mrs Pirftleton, can I get your email address so I can send you information on how to prepare your home for our visit?

and send them this..

Dear [FIRST_NAME] [LAST_NAME],

We look forward to your upcoming appointment. We’ll need your assistance to make the areas you want cleaned as accessible as possible.

1. Please arrange for a parking spot
as close to your front door or cleaning project as possible

2. Remove all breakable items
from the cleaning area and store in a safe area (lamps, collectibles, etc.)

3. Other than large furniture, please remove all items from the floor

(waste baskets, potted plants, brief cases, toys, etc.). If you are physically unable to move things yourself and cannot arrange for help, we will be more than happy to assist. Please pin up or tuck in bed spreads and dust ruffles. Drapes can either be hung up on the end of the rod, gently draped over each other or the ends placed in a plastic garbage bag. Extremely large or heavy items will remain in place (i.e. entertainment units, china cabinets, pianos). We will clean up to the outside edges.
Medium-sized furniture (i.e. tables, coffee tables, end tables, wing chairs, recliners, sofas) can be moved, the area cleaned, and returned to their location. We will place protective padding under furnishings with wood or metal feet to protect the carpet and the furniture. Some furniture is best left off the carpet until completely dried. We will discuss options during your appointment

4. Have a safe place for your pets to stay,
Your front door or other access point will need to be left open during the cleaning process and we would hate it if Skippy or Shadow escaped.

5. Tell us your every concern.
Please point out spots and spills and tell us what they are.

6.We will pre vacuum your carpet prior to cleaning
but if you would like to knock dust and cob webs off base boards, ceiling fans and from the back of furniture we recommend doing so prior to our arrival.

7. If we are cleaning your upholstered furniture:
Please have the pieces easily accessible from all sides and away from any breakable objects or delicate floorings. We can clean your sofas or chairs over the carpet/rugs being cleaned that day or if possible we can clean them outside or in your garage. The pieces set can be on tarps as a last resort. Loose cushions will be "A" framed on provided plastic sheeting, preferably outside for quick drying. In most cases furniture should not be reassembled the same day, rather when completely dry the following day.

and finally;

#8. If you have requested a Teflon Protector to be applied to your carpet or furniture after cleaning (recommended!) please plan on treading as lightly as possible for the next 12 hours as the sealant needs time to cure.

Thank you for choosing __________________!

I use House Call Pro and I get e-mails for everyone. I tell them we send a confirmation e-mail with all the details of their appointment and the day before we send them a reminder e-mail (with tips on how to prep for our arrival). I get a lot of "oh" with a voice inflection of "hey that is really great of you to do that, thanks" some people come out and say "that is awesome"

The "Get crackin' on making my job easier, and by the way, plan on staying in a hotel overnight" chart is a good idea.

Everyone, particularly those in the Seattle area, should adopt this ASAP.

What kind of printer would you suggest for using in your truck?
Canon Pixma.
You can wait and see if anyone wants a receipt or balks at giving you their e-mail address before buying one, but I'd rather make it easier for the customer to do business with me the way it's most comfortable for them.

Mikey,
I've taken down a page of our website because, after three years, one person took something the wrong way. I could blame that person and call them a jerk, but once pointed out I couldn't figure out a way to say it, quickly, so that the misunderstanding wouldn't happen again. Even if no customers have complained, I'd let a copy writer take a shot at softening that list up.

I also use the Canon Pixma iP100

People moving out from rentals (in Australia), need a paid invoice immediately for the property manager.

These people require a paid invoice immediately, which I can provide with the Canon, as some don't have the internet, or are not tech; savvy to on-forward an email with a phone or iPad etc;

Most of my clients are commercial which means emailed invoices, but I still keep the Canon.

I can see the benefits of Mikey's post above & will look into it more before I downsize next month.

I'm with Brian. People here like to be pampered and are willing to pay for it. We pickup and move everything. I can't imagine over the years how many dog and kid toys I've picked up. My only request, if they ask , are to remove any personal items. Full service is what they want and get.

I agree with Bryan that some of the text can be softened. It can easily be accomplished by presenting how it will benefit them.

What the multiple van companies don't (more likely won't) understand, is the personal nature of the relationship that a small or O/O companies have with their clients. They may employ the best copy writer, but that, my dear Goliaths :winky:, doesn't quite cut it. I've been doing something similar to Mike's for many years with very positive feedback.

Also, regardless of the claims, applying a water based Teflon, if mixed according to directions and applied similarly, will take a while to dry. And don't give me the physics and nature defying, drying claims, please. I wasn't, if you're wondering, made yesterday. And if we're talking Seattle (the world most humid tree hugging city) it is likely to take longer.
