My first re-gen today..

Only a 15 minute back flush needed..

I don't know why they give a 3 gallon salt tank when only a quarter is drawn out...

Any owners out there?
How much does yours draw?

In case you have more than one unit to flush..... And brine is ready more quickly since the salt is dissolved and takes time to dissolve...

I now have the models that the brine tank stays home.

Takes us 2 hours for recharge and flush

Used to have the back flush type years ago....

Still working for another cleaner actually

When I had one I called Prochem because the written instructions are not the best.

They said to let it draw all the brine it can regardless of how long it takes. Plan on over an hour.

That makes sense

At the rate the tank was going down..

Why the heck does the manual say 15 minutes?

I don't know. I though the whole manual was vague and contained some instructions that didn't make a whole lot of sense.

It certainly did its job of softening water, but regen was a pain. You end up babysitting it for an hour or more.

My Truck I just bought came with the Hydraforce Soft water system with the separate brine tank like Saigers. Prochem is the same just different label isn't it? My instructions were so vague from Interlink when I went to them to figure out the proper use that they sent me straight to the manufacture that makes them for them. Strange right? So I went there and had a 30 minute conversation on how all the components worked and he showed me everything about how to take it a part and how to adjust how fast it siphons. You would think there instructions would be a lot more clarified, maybe even some video. Saiger, do a video. LOL. Saiger, of your 2 hours of flushing how much of that time is spent siphoning the brine? How much salt and water is used to make your Brine? and how much time is spent rinsing out the brine afterwards? Any idea how much water is wasted per regeneration? How many Gallons can you go between regeneration? Every area of the Country has different water conditions, so how do we know our water is still soft? I was told by the guy in Salt Lake to Regen. every 2 weeks as my TDS is around 200 and I use about 1500 to 2000 gallons every two weeks. I'm still trying to dial mine in too.

As much as this industry is pushing softeners you would think our suppliers would know more about them.

All the instructions I've gotten from our industry are super vague and seem like they have been re-written from a poor translation.

I will say, now that I've jumped through the hoops and gotten my Hydro-force automatic working well it is a really slick unit.

Prochem is definetly not the same as the Hydro-force with the seperate brine tank, but that doesn't mean they're not all made in the same place. I have no idea.

I just called that Guy I spoke to at the Manufacturing Place.
1. Time siphoning should be about 15 minutes to siphon the brine.
2. 1:45 to rinse the brine but he said realistically 1:30 should do and no less then an hour of rinse at the least.
3. 10 pounds of salt and about 3 gallons of water to make the brine. the water will fill until the float shuts it off (around 3 gallons) you can fill the brine tank full of salt to the top if you'd like. Each gallon of water can only dissolve 3 pounds of salt. So you should only use up about 10 pounds per regeneration even if the brine is full of salt.
4. 80 to 100 gallons is wasted per regeneration.
5. When to re-gen. depends on hardness. My water ranges from 220-240 TDS or 13-14 Grains. Which will require a re-gen. every 1700 gallons.

My water is hard...and high ph....

and full of iron ore....and....well just can be tough to treat.

I have a water softener in my shop, and we try not to use our on board softeners unless needed to take on water out in the field....

But all the information you have seems to be very true and accurate....

We would probably be recharging our water softeners on the truck once a week for us too...maybe less but we found we were better off to add softeners in the shop to help us out to begin with....
