On a Boxxer 321 how do I get the pump clutch off of the pump shaft? Need help TONIGHT!

Cool thanks. My manual doesn't have the arrows going to the set screws.

I unscrewed those screws and it still won't come off the shaft. Any more ideas?

do you have any type of puller?

if no puller you may be able to put the #15 bolts in backwards and tighten them pushing the clutch off
if there is room to remove them Edit: if there is room you will likely need to find longer screws or place something between them and the clutch...cause they probably aren't long enough

stupid question I know...but you do have the cap screw that threads into the shaft removed right?
all else fail wedges and a mallet...and maybe the torch

Mine doesn't have the cap screw at all. I have an older Boxxer.

I put the old pump back on so I can get through tomorrow. It is leaking oil, so I want to replace it. I have put new oil seals in it a bunch of times. It is tired and worn.
I'll get a gear puller tomorrow. Thanks for the help Fred.

since you've given up for the night and your getting a puller it shouldn't be a problem....and usually you wouldn't try and get it out first anyway
but i've had pulleys where the key corroded? and prevented removal..............

Holy crap........yor gonna RUIN the clutch.......
after you take the center bolt out....THEN take a 5/8' COURSE threaded bolt and screw it into the larger threads (on the clutch ) you'll find there.....it'll push the clutch right off the shaft..........
if it's not 5/8" it's the next size larger bolt...might be a 3/4"........can't remember

DO NOT USE A PULLER OR A MALLET...unless you wanna buy a NEW clutch!
DO NOT lose the key...it is a special size!
i worry about some of yous...............

Ditto on ol' Bawb.......there should be a set of threaded holes that you screw in the cap bolts equally and slowly back off the clutch. A lot of mounted sleeves have holes threaded into them for the purpose of backing off the pulley. NEVER use wedges or a big friggen hammer!

you're thinking of pulleys....
it's the CENTER HOLE that you use to push the clutch off with......the threads are in the CLUTCH which pushes it off the shaft........
i'm thinking it might be 3/4 course thread.........

yes, I really clean up pet shit for a living Dad..
i forgot the clutch was tapped........
but I doubt you would ruin it with a puller....

Ok Bawb, The threads in the center are on the shaft of the pump and do not touch the clutch at all. There are no other places to thread a screw into.
Is this what you are talking about?

puller looks like the only option with that...or pushing it off with the backing plate bolts

Gear puller pulled it right off. It didn't take much effort. I think it just needed to be pulled off evenly.
