I plan on replacing my WT gasket and "dovetailing" a new gasket onto the lid, instead of the rim of the tank. What would be a good material? link me please.

Why change it...?

I used liquid silicone for years. But I did it on the tank. I dunno if it would work on the lid. I still see tanks that have it, still lasting 10 years now...

Are you talking about on the lid? Can you use permatex to make a lid gasket that has to be removed frequently?

I plan on having an external filter so I don't have to pull the lid off 5x's a day.

Why change it? The JUNK that goes around the RIM of the tank is all messed up. Falling off, torn, etc. If the gasket was on the tank, like the NEW hydramaster waste tanks are made, then I would not have to worry. Their new gaskets are dovetailed at the joints so they don't pull apart....fancy!

I'll go to a boat shop see if they have something for livewell lid gasket material.
