Don't know, yet. Haven't visited the site. I will talk to the
restaurant owner, tomorrow and see if he knows. It could
have been there before he moved in to the building, but I
will check and add that to my post, later. Thanks for asking,
that is relevant.
and most importantly, what sort of adhesive remover will it take?
will the grout be stained?
is the tile easily scratched?
is the tile stone?
or porous?
or even tile and not VCT?
If it's vct tile good luck 9 times out of 10 the tile will start to pop. Also keep in mind that if the tile was installed prior to the 80's it might have asbestos in it.
If it's installed over ceramic typically they would of skim coated over the tile and grout before gluing the carpet down. Reason for this is so the grout lines don't telegraph through the carpet.
If you don't have a carpet puller available the best way to demo is cut the carpet in small manageable stripes with a utility knife ( hook knife works best) and start pulling.
Assuming you will need to take the adhesive off also....If doing it by hand use 4in razor/wall paper scrapers. They make scrape away disc's for this also but it will damage the floor below.
FYI the carpet adhesive probably already discolored the tile and or grout.
