It is with a very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of one of our industry icons – Joe Domin.
Joe was a member of the cleaning and restoration family for over forty years. He joined Prochem in 1978 and was responsible for the formulation and creation of many of the products used by cleaners today including Prochem Ultrapac Traffic Lane Pre-Sprays. Additionally Joe was significant contributor to the success of Sapphire Scientific. While Joe’s contributions to the industry were many the impact he had on those were lucky enough to know him were far greater.
Joe’s love for life and laugher were infectious. You could not have a conversation with Joe without a smile on your face and a good LOL. He had an amazing ability to take a complicated subject like chemistry and make it understandable and fun. If you ever met Joe you would not forget him as his personality filled the room. For many in the cleaning and restoration industry he will be remembered as the funny guy in a lab coat with a camera taking pictures at industry events. For us that were blessed to work with Joe he will be remembered as one of the greats.
Our hearts go out to Joe’s family. He is survived by his love of his life Barb, his children, Bill, Scott (Mary), Andy (Rich), Tucker (Pam) and grandchildren.
RIP Joe Domin

So very sorry to hear this. 😥

He was such a nice guy. Very accessible, spoke to him several times and he was always helpful with solutions to my problems.

Joe was a great asset to our industry. Back in the 80's when I was learning the ropes in my commercial carpet cleaning business, I had a few memorable tech support conversations with Joe. Back in the day Joe used to be the tech person who would answer your questions when you called Prochem for support. He was always approachable; and like Dennis said above, he made cleaning chemistry simple enough to grasp. We've lost another good one.

Yes indeed he was a good man. I had an issue once and together we sluethed out that the crepe soled shoes were the issue. You couldn't ask for a more friendly and approachable guy.

Thank you Dennis.

You and I "grew up" with Joe as our "chemical guru". But I most remember him as a friend and the one person I would seek out in the crowd at any distributor meeting.

Joe set the standard for the industry!! He taught all of us chemistry by providing many benchmarks products that any of his fellow formulators attempts would be judged and evaluated. We are all better professionally and personally for knowing him. He also loved history as I do and our few conversations over the years usually ended up in talking about some historical event.

Tom, you and Joe have a few things in common that we all appreciate:

You listen to the people who use your product

You have interesting viewpoints and lives outside of your work knowledge

You have a great sense of humor.

Call me sometime and I'll tell you his pH joke.

I had met Joe at several industry events and spoke to him on the phone a few times. He was always helpful. Then we got to spend a day together at an ISCT social event. Joe was certainly the life of the party. His humor and out-going personality made the trip much more enjoyable.

He will be missed. Condolences to the family.
