restoration company criteria

I haven't done any restoration work and don't plan to for quite some time. My wife and I are looking at purchasing a house with seemingly extensive water damage if the price is right and we can have the restoration work done. My question is, does anyone have some guidelines I can follow when looking for a restoration company in my area?
