I had the honor of cleaning this well used well loved rug today. Mrs. Piff said it was handed down from 'ol Auntie Edna and was from 1910ish. The red dye bled a bit with the alkaline soloution but not with the acid side(when testing dye stability). It cleaned up great!

Any possibility of getting a closer picture of the side. If its a double corded side may be a Heriz, but kinda of looks like a Tabriz from the pictures you have.

Hyde and Snow will be along shortly to tell you it's a $599.99 POS from IKEA.
Thanks Mikey, actually, I thought I had seen it before at Crate and Barrel...

But,

It does seem to have a double border. It is still in my shop, I can take pics as needed.

Most likely Heriz, and it very well possible that this rug is as old as they were indicating, but the colors and styling to me suggest a newer rug.. more of a modern Heriz.

It's a Mashhad (Mashad) from easter Iranian from the pic it appears to be 1950-60's ?

Most of the post ww2 rugs are jufti knotted this is where they tie a knot over 4 warps instead of two but not uniformly across the rug if run you hand across the pile are there areas where the pile feels thicker or thinner thats the causes it more noticeable when wet.

value,..what Mikey said! I've seen 8x10 sell for under 1K I've seen some more distressed one sell for 3-400.00
