I've cleaned one that looked identical. They said it was Turkish. It had some spots that ran from the previous cleaner. It didn't run on me and I blasted the heck out of it. Pretreated with 8 ph upholstery cleaner and rinses with fab set. I set it in the sun while cleaning the rest of the house and it was dry. Went from nasty to good.

You might want to take that to one of the rug rooms on facebook and ask the pros there.

The pattern looks like it may be from the Caucasus area in what is now the lower part of Russia where it comes down between the Black and Caspian Seas. You can what looks like the 8 pointed star of Medes, the triangles, the squares. etc. Probably a reproduction of an old pattern but still could be quite valuable. My best guess. Any others?
