Rug pad thread...again

What is new under the sun ruggies? I looked at the older threads and concluded the two oft mentioned names were Nomuve and durahold or something similar...


This past week I had three rug customers wanting me to sell rug pads. I never sold any before so maybe it is about time to start offering them.

I need right now the best alternative to a double sided tape between the wall to wall carpet and oriental rug. (I just pulled up a half a mile worth of tape...)

Customers are looking for rug pads that hold the rugs in place securely on top of wall to wall carpets.


Oz? Hanna? Anyone else?

Adhesive similar to spirit gum. I did 1 install with a heavy wool runner (50 ft) over level loop carpet. Stopped it from creeping. Another thin Kilim style rug over nylon Saxony. Again solved the problem. I get mine from a commercial supplier but am told it's available at home depot

Any experience with this? Does it leave any sticky residue?

I need to make sure whatever I get will hold the rugs in place for these customers, since I told them how bad it was to have the double sided sticky tape.

Two products that won't damage either rug or carpet are NoMuv and WunderLock. NoMuv is like soft plywood and is meant for larger rugs. One side is rough so the rug backing sticks to it and the other side allow the carpet nap to slip underneath. No adhesive. It won't work well if the carpet is plush or has pointy-legged furniture on it.

WunderLock is a sticky felt meant for smaller rugs on carpet. The adhesive easily cleans off of textiles.

Not personally... I've had a few customers with it and when we've picked up the rugs, it would come up with the rugs... The carpet didn't feel sticky but I didn't know how long it was down for...

I buy this product alot and also use it for my wood floors. It is the best stuff on the market IMHO.

WunderGrip is the company that makes WunderLock. WonderLock is for rug over carpet.

WunderGrip is a mesh pad made to be a non-skid for rugs on hard surface floors. It's expanded vinyl, so won't break down and crud up the floor like rubber pad. It has no adhesive like the cheap string and glue pads sold by big box hardware stores, so won't crud up the floor.
