sapphire 454. Has 1360 hours oil changes every 100 with full synthetic oil. Lost one cylinder yesterday. Valves stuck. Any suggestions , should I replace heads or do a complete engine swap. Seems like I read on here once of someone getting
sapphire to sell them a new 460 consol only with the kohler 38hp. Any help is really appreciated
No on the new engine.
Call Scott at
sapphire he has "modified" or "better" than stock heads that have been worked up by a small engine specialty shop, that are a big upgrade to new off the shelf heads.
New head gaskets, new heads, new spark plugs and you should be good to go.
On these Briggs it states many many times in the manual( someone told me this have not seen or read the manual) that you have adjust the valves every couple of hundred hours or this will happen.
Adjusting valves only takes 15 minutes or so once you have done it a couple of times.
New heads can supposedly go longer between valve adjustments.
I have the same motor but just in a ss2500hs
