Tomorrow night join Michael Ellis of Sapphire Scientific and he will be disusing their portables. Sapphire Scientific realized it is competing in a crowded market where cleaners have lots of different purchasing choices.

Sapphire has made come up with some differences from their competition to stand out in this market.

Michael will also have joining him Mike Kerner, Sapphire's Scientific's cleaning agent expert. He will talk about how they have formulated some of their products to deal with issues important to portable users such as lower heat use and foaming.

I started my carpet cleaning career (if ya can call it that) using a porty.

wouldn't suprise me a bit if i finished my career using one too.

besides, some of those electric tm's are sweet!

Most of us TM guys have a need for a portable for a high rise job or something similar.

You might be on to something there Lee. Get someone's grandma to knit you one like this for your portable :p

It should better incorporate some black & white into the color scheme
and have a busier pattern.

If it is to be a hit with us elderly carpet cleaning gentlemen.

Sapphire has made come up with some differences from their competition to stand out in this market.

and what would they be??

and no offense to Michael Ellis, (cause i have no reason to think he's anything but a fine man)
but I really don't want to hear about the new porty via an infomercial

Re: Sapphire - Cleaners Classroom Wednesday Night - Portable

I've met Mike Kerner several times over the past few years at various events. He knows his stuff when it comes to cleaning agents. Very end user oriented in his interests and explanations.

Come out tonight and pick his brain

Mike Kerner joined Legend Brands in January, 2009. Mike supports development and introduction of Legend Brands chemical products, prepares technical documentation and provides technical support to our customers.

One of Mike’s projects was preparation of the Carpet Technician Training Manual. That manual is the basis for Legend Brands certification class in carpet care.

Mike’s prior experience includes:

• Senior Scientist for ServiceMaster Clean
• Product Implementation Manager for Aramark Management Services.
• Analytical Chemist for Institute of Gas Technology

Mike has an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois and a Master’s Degree in chemistry from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

and those are some tiny wheels

I bet my Mytee 1003DX was at least $500 cheaper and better built

Just a Northern Products Nexus relabeled SAFFHIRE with a bigger price tag. With respect to their "dependability" they had a lot of problems with the handles cracking, including one that I owed.
Definitely avoid their pump out like the plague. The nexus is a nicer design then their original model. Better than Mytee, Hydro-force or Cross American portable ? Nope and I have owned all of these including the Nexus.

We purchased thie molds and patents for this line of products from Northland equipment almost 2 years ago and since that time have done a lot of redesign work to improve the water extraction capability which has included 2 inch vacuum plumbing in addition to many other improvements (including the pumpout system). It is not manufacturered by Northland and relabeled as SAPPHIRE, it is our own product.

Dear Bill,

I realize you must HATE me by now...

But....REALLY.....Where is all this NEW INNOVATION in this company.... :?:

Seems to me you guys just "snap-up" old technology and SLAP a Legends Brand STICKER on it..

I ....WAS.....interested in the 870 SS...when it was ADVERTIZED with a 59 blower...

Now you are just coping the Prochem Everest 650 HP...
Now you are coping a pOrTy....
Are you the guys building the HOSS...? "Just give me the RX 20."
Do we even need to get into the CHEMICAL line....
Blue Line VORTEX....gone....
Thermal Wave......"Wave BYE-BYE"....
I could go ...on & on..!!!!!

You lost me...When you STATED that a 59 blower was NOT condusive for a CC unit.....

This 2002 Prochem 805 has almost 7000 hrs on her & works every day "ORIGINAL"59 blower.

"COME-ON MAN"...!!!!!!

If you are going to sell "KnoCk-OffS"....@ least discount the price UNDER the REAL DEAL..

.Agreed. And their chems really do suck. Ive tested them all. I like versaclean. And thats it. Way to expensive too
On a good note.... Machines are impressive but copied. And I do like bruders because hes really doing a good job. But I think the chemists need to be terminated simply because they are older and are copying their former employers chems. Hire some young college chemists who have been in school in this century and have a lot more knowledge about new ways of doing things

Joey,

I have NOTHING bad to say about the products....

I just wonder .."WHY ALL THE HYPE"....It is NOT nessessary...!

They have spent a FORTUNE...in chasing "Market Share"....they could @ least be competive in pricing.

IMO.."They have NOT brought ONE product to market that is any BETTER than the Status-Quo."

Sorry gents I'm on my phone so typo's don't count. But my reference was to when Harper accused me of not spelling Sapphire correctly when it was from a quote that I was responding to.

Re: Sapphire - Cleaners Classroom Wednesday Night - Portable

Thank you buddy.
I love it.

Now that my nightly addiction has been taken care of........
What's there left to do?

I think it's all down hill from here.

Maybe Bill will come back from smoking and have a response.
