Could be wrong, but I think Benefect Decon 30 works on scabies. Call them to confirm . I’d go in with a tyvec suit, shoe guards , 2 gallon pump sprayer, spray EVERYTHING, including carpet, walls, furniture, beds, etc. then start at the beginning with decon 30 as my prespray, spray in, wand out, dump the tyvec suit on site into a garbage bag, and spray any and all equipment with decon 30 on site when done.
Get back to the shop, do a full hot wash/ decontamination of the van and all equipment.
Charge accordingly, but honestly? It’s a HARD PASS for me personally.
They need to buy a gallon or 2 of tea tree oil shampoo, and a couple gallons of bleach, and go to town on cleaning the house, and using the shampoo to bathe for a couple weeks…

Scabies are transferred through prolonged skin to skin contact. Even shaking hands rarely leads to transfer of the mites. Sexual contact is the primary means of contamination. I don’t think a space suit is necessary unless you’re there to make love to the floor coverings.

For once I agree with hog boy. It’s a whole lot like treating lice. A little different protocol but similar. As it indicates online, the severity of itching is caused from allergic reactions or low immune systems. I would do as stated except for the excess equipment.
I'm a carpet cleaner, not an exterminator. That's what the customers are told when I get these calls.
Call the exterminator first, then call me.
Funny thing is, the wimpy exterminators here tell them the opposite. I think they just don't want to have a chance at getting the funk.

The situation that you’re describing is due to fleas being our most commonly encountered pest. Pest control operators recommend that the carpet be cleaned first because there’s a 12 to 15 day gestation period before flea eggs hatch, so their pesticide needs to remain on the carpet to kill the new hatchlings. The same may be true with mites.

I don’t care what they say. I’d rather clean the carpet with just flea eggs on it than fleas jumping all over my legs while I’m cleaning.

Everything after that, you started rambling. Ignorance is what will get you in trouble if you decide to listen to the exterminator's suggestion. Like your dumb ass bringing your shark on every job...go ahead and vacuum that flea infested carpet. Then bring your hoses in there and "pretreat" it. Hell, go ahead and rotovac it also. Put all those back in your van and start being the hero for the exterminator. I'm glad you "sprayed your Kankles" with insect repellant. Now take the check and move on to your next job.
See how many fleas you can count in your van and be sure to give those fleas a free ride to your next job. Your customer will be so happy they have a new pet.

My suggestion on cleaning after the First flea spray does work. The exterminator doesn't suggest that because they don't clean carpet. They just put it in their instructional lessons that flea treatment needs to be performed twice. 15 days after the first treatment.
Now back to scabies
