I bought a Kleenrite 2 directly from Kleenrite. I paid $599. I saw the same F^^KING HEATER ON THE STEAMBRITE website for $424. I guess I paid an extra $175 for WHAT? I'm not anti profit but I like a little foreplay before I get screwed.

I hear ya Willy; Sometimes buying factory direct is more costly. Seems that was a raw deal. Send it back for a refund and buy it at Steam Brite.

That just pisses me off. If they can sell them so Steambrite turns a profit at $424 yet I pay $599? Bullshit. I did send an email asking why, the response should be captivating, if I get one at all. I hope they spend that $175 wisely as that's the last dollar of mine they'll ever see. I don't expect wholesale, but I didn't expect a 30% increase over what a retailer sells the same product for.

You should have came to MF.

I would have rigged the contest for you to win the one they donated.

Was it a 2 cord or a single? I helped to subsidize it so I'm curious.

So...is KR screwing you, or is SB just hocking stuff incredibly cheap in a high volume walmart approach?

If you buy 500 heaters, you could probably lean on KR pretty hard for the best deal, so is it better for everyone?

There will be alternatives, I'll just have to look around. I love the product to death, it works very well, but geez. Like I said, I'm not anti profit, but that seems a little on the high side I guess I'll be a better shopper next time.

$599 could be the suggested retail that Kleenrite set. If that is the case they may have an agreement with distributors not to sell below that and Steam-Brite could just be under cutting everyone or getting rid of old inventory.
Most distributors would see it as unethical if the manufacturer sold below there suggested retail.

I didn't expect a better deal. I didn't expect to see it somewhere else retailing at $175 or 30% less.

I understand, that was just a possible explanation.

Manufacturers rarely sell below the highest retail as they are afraid of the Interlink mafia. Most won't even allow a supplier to advertise anything below retail.

Groom Industries (Grandi Groomer) used to do that also. They pretty much made themselves the most expensive way to buy their products. I believe they were working in the best interests of their dealers.

If anyone should be pissed it should be anyone the distributes for KleenRite. First KleenRite shouldn't be selling anything direct. Second Steam Brite shouldn't be listing it so cheap. They should have their distribution yanked.

Next Willy ask yourself if your customer called you and was pissed because you charged $300 to clean their carpets then they seen they could have had it done for $150 by the guy down the street using exactly the same equipment you used. You wouldn't be pissed at the customer you would be pissed at the dick head for f'ng up your industry.

I've been biting my lip on this thread.

No one said it better than John.

If Kleenrite sold it direct, I presume it was because the customer had no other option, such as no Distributor available and the customer was specifically asking for help. That same person should be expecting to pay discounted pricing in a courtesy exchange.

We don't have anyone distributing for Kleenrite up here, so they sold direct. Had I known I could have put the $175 in my pocket for the same thing, I wouldn't have said shit. John, you nailed it. I'm not asking for a discount or anything at all like that, but I find it troubling to see a product sold by a distributor at 30% less than I paid for direct purchase. The sad part is I had a reputable firm that was looking for carpet care product lines to sell and I won't be able to give them positive input after this and I also won't be purchasing from Kleenrite again based on the same premise. Had they given me a list of distributors close by, say Washington state or Oregon, I wouldn't feel like a used condom. I'm not a cheap skate, but I do watch where my money goes.

Hey! I won that thing! And I needed it! The look on your face when you handed it to me was kinda funny. You said something like, "Wait. Can you actually use that thing?" I do appreciate it. Thank you.

John does have it right, and it's funny that this topic came up because I'm getting more notices from manufacturers about advertising at less than msrp. Alot are warning distributers not to advertise a price less than msrp on websites or in print.

Hi Bill,

I see from your post you are upset with the price you paid for your HeatRite 2 and I am sorry to hear that. It is understandable why you would feel this way. To clarify the situation, at KleenRite we do sell through distributors only unless there is no one near the prospective customer or for some other extenuating circumstance. In this case there was no one near you, so we sold to you direct. The price you paid was actually $549.00 plus freight. That price is our suggested retail price.

I understand you saw one of our distributors selling the same Heatrite for $424.00. We do not police or enforce a set price for them to list our products at. We tell them our suggested retail price as a recommendation only. Often an "on-line" price is lower in many stores for one reason or another. We do not sell direct at a low price so as not upset our distributors. Never to do under sell them! At the same time there are other companies that advertise our Heatrite for more than what you found it for on-line. Once again showing it is up to the distributors to list our products at what price they choose. Please do not think that you were scammed.

I hope you understand as your satisfaction is important to us.

Willy is the same kind of guy that buys bread at the day old bread store and complains about the bread being stale.

I like to thank american suppliers like Jon Don and Green Glides for shipping to Canada because frankly it is a pain for them to do so. The more you whine and complain, the more they WON'T ship to Canada, then were all in trouble.

Too many carpet cleaners have the wal-mart syndrome. You got to forget about price and think about support and integrity.

I gladly will pay more to people I trust and can phone and get help or support any time I need it.

BTW, any Canadians who want support and great product lines like GreenGlides, Vacaway, Release-it, Judson and other stuff, talk to Rick Thode at Organic Solutions. Fair prices and GREAT support and advice. He is member here. If you can't find him, PM me.
