I had someone else mention the bright lime green but when I explained it's "my" color - meaning basic background color for all advertising pieces, color of my work shirts, color for my new van when I get it.... she seemed to say "okay I get it". But yeah I still maybe do need to re-consider it.

I could have moved that plant and I actually would have moved that plant normally but that is my house and I was just demo-ing my procedure for the video. I'd normally be cleaning a much larger area per section. I got a bit lazy and you caught it!

But, there is always a butt. With websites being as important as they are to your company, shouldn't you spend a few bucks with a pro and put your best foot forward? You already have all the components together, let them do a nice layout for you.

Id probably remove the part where you lean your shit on customers shit. Grooming and tile brush leaning on the dresser. Some might not like it. I know its your house but anyone looking will not know.

On the mobile site, I didn't like the sentence, "I do not overbook my work days so that I don't have to rush and hurry thru my cleaning jobs." I get it, but make it easier to follow. "I do not overbook because I want to spend as much time as needed at every job."
Emphasize every chance you get that YOU do the work. When I go on Angie's list, owner/ops are who I look for in services.

Believe it or not I've already gone thru 3 different "professional" who have redesigned my website each time. Obviously the wrong 3. Each proceeding guy would look at my website and promise he could do better. Ultimately they each failed, at least for what I wanted. So I took it into my own hands.

I like the way you kindly and gently basically said, " it looks ok but amateurish" LOL I understand what you are saying and I've thought about some point finding someone to clean and polish it up once I get it set up to my final liking and ability.

I really, really do appreciate everyone's comments and I hope that I can get a few more.

Barry, I like your website and your videos. If was looking for a quality service, I would be attracted to your company. I can't stand your coupon offers. (five room special kind of crap) If I wanted that kind of deal, I would hire someone from the flyers I get all the time. Sell Your service on the top quality of your work. Charge what is appropriate. Let your customers know that you might not be the cheapest but your the best. Ok to offer something because they saw your website (maybe 10% discount) Let's you that your website is working.

It does but I was sincere, I like it and you did great. You have some talent and know what to say and which hot points to promote.

However my point is that we all fall into the same trap of feeling we can produce a finished piece (whether it’s a postcard, flyer, van design or website) equal to what a professional can.

We flat out can’t!
There should be no shame in it, we are not trained in design and layout. We are cleaners and restorers and should do what we do best.

I agree with you’ll be happier by doing just as you have done. Build the comp so they know what you desire. I think it’s too hard for them without some direction from us. I always layout what I want it to look like and give it to them. They then run with the idea and improve it 10 fold what I had done.

You website will be the first impression potential clients will have of your company. I feel it should reflect the professionalism and care that you give your give clients.

A pro design will better convey it. Is it going to cost more? Yes but look at it as upfront money. I would think a professional design will have a much better chance of converting anyone on the fence of whether to choose you for their cleaner.

My two cents, which is all its worth anyway.

That green has to be minimized. I know it's one of your colors, but maybe you can just do some borders in that color rather than such a huge portion of the page. I would also get rid of anything that plays sound as soon as the page loads - there is no quicker way to get someone to leave your site.

Hmmm....Are you looking at the website on a phone, tablet or ? It's SUPPOSE to be only Green around the borders as it is. Welll wait a minute - I guess the drop down menus are green and at the very bottom there are lists in green but on my screen it's not to the point of what I'd call huge. I appreciate your feedback and I'm not dismissing what you are saying - just trying to fully understand it.

Also, is it the fact that it's a bright lime green, not the fact that it's a shade of green? Is the blue annoying too?

I am using a desktop with a very high resolution monitor - this results in 3-4 inches of your background being shown on each side of the content. I'm not opposed to blues and greens in general, it was just the brightness and quantity of the green that threw me off.

OK ..that makes sense. I have a 2 monitor setup - one in portrait and the other in landscape orientation. Phones and the portrait monitor show just a bit of color around the edges. the landscape monitor shows a few inches on each side like your does.

I've since gone in and changes the greeen to a beige.
