I replaced my vacuum gauge today because it was looking a little yellow and worn out. Boy was I surprised when I hooked it up and it read 20hg. I went back inside to get another one just to be sure and it read the same thing. The old one was reading 15hg. Might be something worth testing.

CK and see if the vent cap or rubber tip is cut open on the top of the gauge.

Sorry , after you install the gauge you cut the rubber tip off so it will vent.

Maybe that's why my gauge reads 15"-17". Cut it completely off or poke a hole to let it vent a little?

I had the original from the factory and the top was not cut that I could tell but the new one has a little metal piece you pull up.
