Great timing, just before the holidays.

Hard to let go, sad to see her go.

Why could it have not of been after the 1st of the year, or some other time.

Best cure is to just move on and get a new one.

Problem is, they don't make them like her any more.

She was a gx620 qaf

Picking up a gx630 qaf tomorrow.

I'll have to have some welding mods done to the exhaust.

Otherwise should bolt right on.

Good bye you little Vtwin you.
You served me well, and made me a lot of coin.

Rest in pieces.

She blew up 2 mins after starting this AM.

I'll be back in action tomorrow and having to make up for lost time this weekend.

Jam packed busy, so the timing was not good.

I'll have my machine back up and running by Monday for sure.

Oh, and for those of you that will say.. You should have a back up.

I've lost 2 days in 16 years running a TM.

Simple answer is I either need to sell and move on, or add another van and machine.

When you hit 2500 hrs it's good to have a spare in hand.

I'm running Nissans, and if I keep oil and coolant in them, they will last at least 10,000 hours.

You should have had a backup. :p

You can't plan for everything but Lee is right, when air cooled gets a little long in the tooth its a gamble. Having a powerplant to swap out may sound extreme but then its better than being down and waiting.

Agreed, I swapped out the engine once just cuz,, 18 months later broken rod, now 5 years later caught me off guard as I had planned a just cuz engine swap in the spring or a complete decommission.

I'm happy with the life I got from it, not surprised at all.

Just wish it would have waited till I had the new engine or TM ready to roll.

4 clients displaced, I'll make each one happy before Thanksgiving and vacation.

A well earned vacation.

Don I like to change the oil every 20 hours, that is probably what caused your motor to blow after only 3000 hours. I also like to pack the headers and polish the overhead cam shaft every 50 hours or so. Just some advice from an oldtimer for a newbie like you!

Man, that's what I fear most about my 8 year old TM. She's been running good since I swapped out the torque drive system. If I can keep her running till January down time, I'll be gratefull.

Going to rebuild this one.

Talking with the service guy at the honda dealer when picking up the new one gave some pretty good advice after I told him what I'm seeing on the broken engine.
No top end movement, but pistons are fine.

I'll pull it apart this winter.

Ya better hope the Nissan runs for ever.
