Should the owner of a small company drive a very expensive car to work?

Actually I drive the Ridgeline for that very reason.
Fancy but not fancy. Don’t put off fancy vibes but really nice on the inside. To my chimps, I’m sure it’s just a pickup. Besides, they all think I’m their daddy when their vehicle breaks down. I have a 9 passenger van for such an occasion. We also, give gas cards for multiple locations so as far as I know, no envy.

And not necessarily just the owner but upper management who was in charge of motivating the underpaid troops..

Can it motivate the employees to want to do better and someday get a fancy car themselves? Or does it just make them bitter...
what happened that made you think of this?

Tom King commented about what he and Jordan drive to work one day (old jeep and f150) since then I've paid more attention..

Surdi drive a Lambo, Altas drives a Porche Turbo S and both do very well but it makes me wonder..
I don't know that either way is wrong. You've earned it, you deserve to enjoy it. If their techs are paid above the average pay for their job then it wouldn't bother me.

However if they are making a killing and not passing it on, yet they are flaunting it. Then it could be an issue for them.

You're using subjective language. Makes interpretation of the question vary too much from person to person. What's a "small" company? What price point is "very expensive"? What is the price point where employees become underpaid?

Is Surdi REALLY driving a Lambo? He's doing 10-12 mil a year, from what I understand, and pushing to double that. More power to him. He's done really well...but yeah. Lambo as a daily driver in ANY situation is annoying af.

My Son-in-Law’s GM drives a Lamborghini to the Honda Dealership and wears Gucci shoes. Everyone there laughs behind his back. Even the shoes, that look like house shoes, they say what the hell is on his feet😂😂 of course he’s the type to Jack with their commission or pay.

When my parents owned a gas station in 90’s-early 00, he drove his new corvette to work

Being a small town, more negative gossip was coming from the customers vs the employees.

But…he paid his employees very well, so I think that’s a part of this subject

If I can afford 350 Ford truck all tricked up..I absolutely would drive it to work. I absolutely would flaunt it. I'm done tip toeing around people's butthurtness about what I do or have.

Their brokedick conscious is not my problem.

People should drive what they like to drive. Often think, if I won the lottery, what car would I buy. I like a lot of cars but I'm more of a truck person. More of a classic truck person. I would probably have an old truck restored for me. I like Porsches. Finely engineered cars, great handling. Like old Mopars from the 60's and 70's. Not really a fan of Ferrari's or Lamborghini's although I respect the engineering. One of my favorite trucks was an 1988 Ford f 250 long box. Mint shape but I sold it because I had too many vehicles. If you have something you like to drive, drive it. Who cares what someone else thinks.

had a friend who coached sales reps, he used to tell reps "if your sales are struggling buy a new suit and shoes, you'll feel and look more successful and sales will increase

I think similar applies, but there is a difference between looking successful and looking like a tool who's trying to compensate

Well, that goes back to the original question.

I've always thought the perfect sales car would be a restomod Mustang or classic truck. Reliable, interesting enough to make you memorable, not valuable enough to make people dislike you for driving it.

1967 $20,000. About what you'd pay for a base Subaru.

Old cars are fun to look at, but give me the latest model year with all the options to actually drive.

My daily driver is a 2020 Ford Explorer ST (I feel like I have to drive a domestic car here in the Motor City). I like this car better than any car I have ever had, partially because all the technology in it.

Not only heated and cooled seats, they even have built in massagers. Lane keeping system, blind spot detection, intuitive cruise control, express up and down windows, etc..

Dam thing even parks itself.

Don't forget that heated steering wheel if you have not found it yet.
