Hi all,
I have had an enquiry to clean the carpets on board a 58m vessel whose carpets are extremely delicate being made from a composition of silk, wool and Yak!
Can anyone help me with how you would clean this carpet as it’s a mix that I’ve not come across before?
Email me if you wish to:

getshortycairns@iig.com.au

Many thanks in advance.
Shorty.

Yak is wool also but it may have a different appearance and texture compared to sheeps wool. Hopefully the silk is just highlights in the carpet. I would use cool to warm water at low pressure (200 psi) or less with a natural fibre prespray and a slightly acidic rinse 5.5-7ph. Make sure your insurance will cover you if you screw up. Take a good look at it when you do the quote and send us some pics.

Shorty, just clean it like you clean any wool broadloom with a jute backing and you will be fine. Agree with Ron, spend extra time of the pre-inspection.

Not sure when my boat will come in as yet.

Nor if I will even get the job, but this interior desecrator loves my work.

Not everyone can do this type of work. Price it accordingly. You have done some difficult things in the past, this is no different.
