Back when I got my first Hydramaster DualCat (1984) on long commercial runs we would drop 50' sections of vacuum hose off the end as we pulled back and dragged them back to the truck and would hook them to the 2nd. vac port and y them together.

Who invented it? Who knows.
We were just trying to get better vacuum power.

I was thinking having a 30-50 gallon waste tank that auto pumped to a larger tank (any size you want) (tall n skinny - or - one that lines the whole floor of the van) would give you the best vacuum possible.

I started picking up the wand on my back stroke and it seems like clearing the hose as fast as possible allows for more lift when the wand is down.
