Pre spray with a ph of 12 on a sixth generation nylon carpet?

Assuming it gets rinsed out....

It's just fine if you ask Cobbs.

I don’t really see the high PH presprays outperforming the better Ph 10 presprays on nylon. Why void a warranty if you don’t have to? If it’s an extreme soil condition than who cares?

if its extreme soil they have already voided their warrantee
Isn't that the high pH will remove the acid dye resistors?
Those are on 5th gen, what makes a 6th?

oh I'll chime on this. My observation has been that Ph has been just one factor among many in higher Ph detergents. I've seen where adding oxygen and/or a solvent was what dramatically improved the performance. As far as high Ph on factory stain guard, don't know and soooooo don't care. Carpet owners pollute the shit out out of the carpet and our job is the clean it.

I think the pH "guideline" of 10 is ridiculous.

I asked Werner & CRI tech aid at 2010 Connections why they still had the pH recommendation of 10.

After a pause, the tech aid said that it was now for dye protection.
(Stainresist, the original pH problem, hasn't been affected for over 10 years)

I asked about the new CRI Pet Spotter program.

There again, they maintained the pH recommendation of 10.

Well, that eliminates all of the most popular "powder oxidizers" like the one we produce,

the one CTI markets for that purpose, and most liquid two-part oxidizers.

They need an "industry chemist" on their committee.

A good prespray will drop at least 2 pH numbers with a water rinse.

Larry

P.S. This is the same CRI who made our commercial level-loop solution-dyed carpet,
that had color loss when extracted with plain pH 7 water.

I've cleaned for people who have made claims on there carpets a few years after I cleaned them, they called because they needed to verify me as IICRC certified.
