Why are they stated to not be safe for stain resistant carpets?
I need to start selling this, not sure which one to use, Maxim seems to be a good starting point.
Thanks all!

You were misinformed if someone told you solvent based protectors are bad.. The problem protectors are the ones that contain silicone. Most solvent based protectors are still flouochemical based meaning that the only difference between regular scotchgard type protectors and solvent base protectors is the carrier is oms based vs. Water. (ie a solvent) While over saturation could get you in trouble just like any solvent based cleaning agent would on a tufted carpet. The solvent has an advantage in that if you have waters sensitive face fibers, backing systems, or even potential wicking problems, then a solvent based would be a good alternative.

cobb carpet has 2 different ones. The best benefit is that it lowers dry times because solvent dries faster than water and your not adding a bunch of water to the carpet after you spent a thousand dry strokes to get it dry. The warranty issue cam from some solvent protectors turning the carpet yellow. But lets face it, carpet warranties are worthless anyhow, no one gets warranty relief from a manufacture

If your protectant turns the carpet yellow the warranty won't matter. You'll be paying for the replacement.

it depends on the solvent whether it will dry quicker then water. the solvents used in most protectors now will not dry faster then water. put a drop a water next to a drop of mineral spirits and see which one dries faster.
