Sort of a letdown, Chemdry

I was meeting with a customer who had hired Chemdry for her carpets “because it always smells nice.”

For the first time, I got to see their gear. The truckmount is a smallish Something 435 and the had about 100’ of 1.5” hose going to the house. That surprised me.

I dunno what they spray down, but the technician very earnestly urged me not to slip and his buddy came barreling down the hall with a rusty RX-20 whizzing around and around. He told me it was a patented Chemdry machine.

He was done with the large living room in about three minutes and they packed up and left. The carpet still felt sodden and slippery, as if it were still soapy.

I would love to know what exactly they use, but I guess I expected something a bit more in line with actual work. I mean, the carpet looked nice and clean, but there is no doubt in my military mind that it is not flushed or extracted they way we think of it. He was just going too darn fast and here’s the kicker: He was NOT using water to flush! He was only sucking up whatever had been copiously sprayed on the carpet and the water line was not attached to the RX-20.

So what is going on?

I "think" the RX20 normally has smaller jets and slower gearing than usual which makes it "unique" less juice put down means less to pickup

maybe the pump was out and they were making do?

See you either use "too little or not enough"

but they and only they have the goldilocks secret and use whats "just right"

They weren’t lying. Chemdry. The carpet dries with chemicals in it. It really fits the name.

They were hacks even by chemdry's standards.

The majority of carpets are too loose to use a heavy RTE on them. Secondly Heat kills their carbonation, so the carbonation aspect of their cleaning process is just, well hot air.

With these two, so is the two-hour-dry claim. That carpet was sopping wet.

So, did you educate your customer on their process or rather lack of one? Suggest to redo it so she can see the difference.

Should have given a rinse extraction on one small area to show the difference in drying & cleanliness.

if it smells clean it is clean, I dont like products that linger after but if it smells nice it is nice to most

Scent can be a very important part of the job and how the customer feels about it. Many today don't want any scent which is why I love my procyon. For those who want a fresh smell, lately I have been using Harvard's Japanese pear deodorizer. Leaves a pleasant fresh scent without being overwhelming.
