I have the one from Pro Chem. It works fine. It doesn't have heat(nor do I think it needs it). I assume except for those that have heat the rest are all the same. If I were just getting something for personal use, I might opt for a small wet/dry shop vac. You can easily apply water or rinse via trigger/pump sprayer(even pour it on) and then extract with the vac. Its a lot less investment. However, it is sometimes nice when spot cleaning for a customer. Easier than dragging in a bunch of hose for one or two spots.

Here you go, Jim.
i have experience with this one.
Good little unit, very good value for the base model @$318.
Or you can upgrade to all the options (better tools, vac and heat) for $670

The plastic head on mine has lasted well. I've had this for at least 5 years. It may not last if you have employees.

They want $60 for the handle! Why would someone want one without it?? Need some way of carrying it.

That's the optional handle, Ron.
It attaches to the back and allows you to wheel it dolly style.
IMO, it's not necessary, cause there is a built in handle (that nose on the front is also the vac port) that's molded into the case that allows you to carry it like every other spotting machine

I like the two stock pots they made into a portable for $3800--down from $6995. If they are getting $3800 for that, I am in the wrong business...again.

spotter

I just use, and recommend to my customers, the Bissel Green Machine. The small one with no heat. (NOT the Spot Bot) $70 at walmart.
If you use it when you notice the spots then you can get just about any stain out. I use it with vinegar and water. Or for the stubborn stains I use ammonia and water. Any other issues I grab pro spotter from truck.
It is small enough to keep in your closet with the cleaning product in it.
For those of us with pets it is a Godsend.

Why spend 3-400 bucks on a spotter you will use only on occasion.
Now if you were going to use it for the business as well then go for it.
However, the spotters on the market are just that.. spotters if you plan on using them for upholstery they only have a capacity of 1-3 gallons. And don't suck near as well as needed for fast dry times.

That is all

Don't think I'd be bringing a Green Machine into a custy's home.

I have a Sandia for sale again on the MB SwapMeat if anyone's interested.

"Now if you were going to use it for the business as well then go for it."
Meaning, Buy the good one.

I didn't say I'd bring it into a custys home.
I said I recommend them to custys for spotting. Especially homes with reoccurring pet issues. Otherwise Call me.

Besides he was looking for one for his home. Unless I read it wrong or misunderstood.

Honestly, for your home any old second handy porty would be a good choice, lots of cheap second hand units out there, guys that upgraded from a single vac machine to a ninja etc...then you can at least seriously rinse and extract, the spotter machines lack for the scratch you'll dish out.

Why waste hundreds of dollars for an underpowered spot machine when you have a truckmount in your driveway. Get a 50' X 1 1/2" vac hose if you don't want to drag in your 2" hose. You could clean the whole room in the time you spent monkeying with the spot machine. The long 1 1/2" hose is also great for large furniture jobs.

Just got off the phone with Tia, so how was the date with Pam?
Tia says she is a big girl and can roll a small porty and 10' of hose through the house just fine, she did say she would prefer it be kept in the broom closet for quick access to all those tiny spills and such. She also said she appreciates the additional vacuum the "real" extractor has over the spotter.
