I bought a pair or blue jeans in the mall a few weeks ago. I've washed them 3 times and still can't get what I suspect to be disinfectant smell out of them. I'm guessing they probably fog their store each night and these jeans sat at the top of the pile.

Is that like expecting my carpet to stay clean forever, just because you cleaned it?

Nah
it's more kin to hawking protectant for a poly rag carpet

squirting bug juice in public places or fluorochem on poly are both about as effective.....for 10 minutes

BUTT...I guess it makes some people "feel" bedder .
and a big boost in profits for the janitors and wand sloggers

so I don't have "quite" the same view as Mike
(as long as they're not lying to the custy)
It's an opportunity to bank easy money

"that ain't working
That's the way you doit
Money for nothing ......."

That is true. As I said early on, my customers expected it and some bought their own equipment to help with cost. My cost was reasonable to them. I made a lot of money, not because of hawking, but because of frequency. No one wanted to spray on Friday nights, Wednesday nights, and Sunday nights. We sprayed 7 days a week.

Most businesses prefer to hire a pro even though their staff could easily handle the task. For the optics and liability they would rather pay than keep it inhouse.

We did it in house. I bought 3 hand held and 1 backpack electrostatic sprayers. Trained the custodians but in the end, trained the students on how to use. Mostly because it fit in best as a part of them refreshing and flipping a space.

It was funny. All of my churches have rent houses. All of them. Someone would get Covid in them, they’d send us to #mitigate, or spray. No one would go in em except us. 😂 All would be good after that🤷🏼‍♂️😂 I’d charge a $100-$150 and add to my bill. They all thought easy peasy.

We had an apartment complex hire Genny to spray door knobs and intercom 3 days a week at the beginning then cut back to two till a few weeks ago.
$125 a trip only 6 2 story Buildings took 45 minutes round trip.

Every door handle is tarnished bad now. The stuff destroyed a bunch of desks and tables at another place we clean. We see damage everywhere we go from disinfectant use.

What product was she using?

We don't have any damage and have been doing door handles, push bars, railings for over a year now.

Lysol. But she was told not to wipe it off. Just spray and go.
We really do see damage in a lot of places.

They requested lysol too. It got tricky a few times to keep it stocked.
