Well i'd guess, the op machine will operate as it was designed to with the exception of the zip tie scratching the floor. Sorry still don't get your point. please explain it in plan english. Why would a brush (designed for use on an op machine on carpet) not work

My point is OPs do not spin, they jiggle. In order to be able to jiggle on carpet,with brushes the machine would have to be very lightweight and use minimal brushes, this Oreck Orbitor.


In other words, useless.

The Sprayborg rotates at 80 rpm and oscillates at about 1700 cycles per minute. So a little less than half the speed of a 175. If you turn it upside down, you can still sit on it and rotate. Just a little slower.

Need cloth to actually do any cleaning. But scratching that itch feels good just no actual cleaning.

Well, The Sprayborg and I believe the new orbot Vibe rotates at 80 rpm and oscillates at about 1700 cycles per minute. So it both spins and jiggle's at the same time. The mytee eco-17 does as well, although I don't know at what rpm's it spins at or how many jiggles or cycles per minute it is because this info is not listed on their website.

So i might agree that with a carpet brush there would be more resistance on certain types of carpet which may decrease the rpm's at which it spins if the motor is not strong enough, but they do spin and jiggle at the same time. You would just have to be able to make a judgment call on the job/spot as to which to use. ( pad or brush)

I believe you may just be right there as far as on carpet goes. But brushes for that full size oreck op machine have been around for a while now for use on hard surfaces, which would work fine as there would be no resistance on a hard smooth surface (unlike a carpet)

But if designed properly, i see no reason a carpet brush for use on carpet by a full sized op machine would not work. Not saying it would work great and be the greatest thing since sliced bread. But its at least worth giving a try.

A lot of tools/equipment have been made for this industry that have been really good and really sucked as well. But i guess we'll never know unless its made and then used to give a fair assessment. So i guess the jury is still out on this one. I may just try it and if it sucks, i'll be honest and admit it and chock it up as a lesson learned.

At the price of an OP machine you'd be money ahead just to buy a cheap used 175 off Craiglist for a couple hundred dollars for the times you want to use a brush.

I'm pretty sure we still have a brush head for an older OP from the pre-orbot era of Hos.

Mytee makes both a carpet brush and T&G brush for the ECO-17 now. I haven't heard from anyone that has used either yet though. I plan on ordering the T&G brush for mine soon.

So you have the eco-17, how long have you had it and how do you like it. Tell me, in your honest opinion what you think are it's pro's and con's

I've had it since early October. I clean part time and only use it about once or twice a week so I don't have as much use with it as some full time cleaners do. This is my first OP machine but I really like it. I was using a 175 before and I definitely feel like it cleans better and quicker. I'm also much less fatigued afterwards when using the Mytee. Great on CGD as well. I don't have many complaints with it other than the fill tube always leaks when you lay the machine down to change a bonnet. I ended up tying a knot in the tube and don't use it anymore. I may change the jets out as well as they put down a ton of pre-spray even when I feather the trigger.

Thanks for your feed back, the fill tube leak and jets are easy fixes, you could also find some kind of rubber plug to put into the fill tube hole and just take the tube itself out.

That's a good idea. I didn't really use it so a quick knot was no big deal. It's easy to reverse too.

He confirmed my observations.

OPs don't spin under heavy load.

My modified orbital car polisher that I use on upholstery seems to do the same thing under too much load.

Seems like there is some type of clutch mechanism that wont let it jiggle under too much torque.

As resistance increases, it seems to loose the jiggle first and then slow it's rotation.
