Mine cost $733. today. That must be the baseline.
Word...What a dunce.. 15years ago is the same Chevy/GMC van and engine.. Chavez was right, never listen to Marty..
I'm saying, if he has the budget, rather than a slide in, a Butler would be the way to go. Simple, reliable, hot and powerful. Butler does some modifications to make the van run cooler. New system can run $80,000-$100,000 depending on options, including the van. At times, Butler has some reconditioned units available.Butler isn't a slide in doah...you know that already
I've never owned a Butler, but I've heard nothing but good about them. If you're looking at slide-in units I'd highly recommend you checkout and speak with SteamAction. I was skeptical at first of their units, but once I saw one in person it completely changed my mind. Loads of heat, vacuum, and very simple to work on. It would definitely be worth giving them a call and having a conversation.I decided to post this on here versus *** because there’s a lot of older veterans on here and most of you have tons of valuable knowledge.
We’re moving from Southern California to Coastal Delaware as I’m originally from New Jersey and all my family is there now and aging. I am considering starting up a company there.
The negative is there isn’t a service center anywhere near (2hrs away) and while I am fairly mechanically inclined I don’t do any major work, so wanted to ask you guys what your thoughts of the absolute most reliable easiest to work on truck mount there is?
I am a 30 year vet age 54 and I’ve had the Prochem legend SE (tons of problems) Prochem Apex (some issues ) now the Hydramaster titan 575
I’m seriously considering the Butler system would love to hear from any of you guys about it I know it’s more of an East Coast thing, but looks really simple to work on. They seem extremely reliable. What’s your thoughts?
Many thanks

HOWEVER...sometimes the owner uglies out 1stdirect drive or slide in
depends how long you keep your rig before re-new
if rust/corrosion is a fact of life in Delaware like NE Ohio, the van uglies out long before the unit.

Correct, I was skeptical myself, but I was able to run a machine and look it over for any issues or shortcuts. One you “saw” one.
Compare that with an actual user @darcie smith
100% just the facts, no emotion here: The SteamAction Stealth Talon had a lot of problems and the customer service was slow in resolving the issue. The unit we bought never did run properly. After 7 months, it was replaced with a Stealth Fighter and we haven’t had any problems with it. It has to be checked frequently to make sure it doesn’t overheat, but that’s been the only issue.Correct, I was skeptical myself, but I was able to run a machine and look it over for any issues or shortcuts.
I understand there were some issues with Scott and Darcie's machine, but I believe they were taken care of. Have they had issues since?
Every brand out there has had some issuse, and other than Scott, I haven't heard of anyone else that's had issues with these new style SteamActions.
This isn't meant to be sarcastic either. I don't have a dog in this fight. Since our area lost our mechanic I've been looking for the easiest machine to take care of and maintain. So I went out for myself and have looked personally at the machines.
That sucks that you guys had to go through that. I'm glad that everything is going good now. The gentleman that owns El Diablo called me when our city was flooding and offered me help and equipment. He's all aces in my book.100% just the facts, no emotion here: The SteamAction Stealth Talon had a lot of problems and the customer service was slow in resolving the issue. We recently bought an El Diablo and it’s been running great.

Hx, diesel or propane.El Diablo HX or fuel burner model?

I like hearing that.i have a butler and 2 hydramaster cds out everyday
the butler seems way easier to work on and is a great setup
the cds is awesome and I prefer it but my vans have had a lot of issues the last couple years
one of them has 150k miles and 5k hours and was flawless till about a year ago and its hard to keep on the road now it just seems like something is always off or its running hot or leaking
my butler is great only have had a radiator issue and clutch fan but cleans strong everyday
if I were to buy myself a van today I would buy myself the CDS 4.8 SV its blower is bigger now and if its not employee ran I think it would last a lifetime
I dont like how the butler looks or is laid out I dont like how the pressure guage only works while using the wand or tool I also dont like how the injection system works
and I would rather have the center console on the cds
the cds is way more room and looks way better
you can have enough room for all the vlm crap we are pushing these days and whatever else you want
Tell ‘em @Jimmy LI like hearing that.
I got a question, Why is there no #5 Blower available on PTO. The CDS 4.8 is great, but when I run the Thermalwave it does kind of feel nice that you have extra vacuum. Makes it a little easier.
The horspower is there. Is it because to the magnetic clutch?

I dont think they do HX anymore.
I could be wrong but I believe Butler uses dual serpentine belts. For single wanting, a 47 blower is all you need. My old Cleanco which I recently sold has tons of power. My newer Apex is even better and hotter. I can't imagine using a larger blower. Hard enough to move the wand as it is.that's my understanding. (among other stuff)
If I recall, it's good for appx 32hp .
On paper that might be enough if direct coupled, but add the serpentine belt drive and belts to drive blower , when spun up @ 14hg with the pump psi above 500, they're pushing the limits of the drive system to drive a #5
Likely the reasons the top two DD manufactures (HM & Butler) don't offer #5 blowers
