Steamway truck mount anyone has one?

I just purchased a truck mount yesterday and took the pump to the cat dealer and they said that the seals has to be replaced and some other things the model is over 15 years old and thinking of replacing the pump for something newer and less break downs, to replace seals it will cost me over 500.00 because the cat pump requires more expensive parts apparently?

Thats a great price gotta elimnate whats my issues i really belive its the seals on it the guy hasnt ran the unit in 1.5 years plus the dealer will not work with other peoples parts

The pump ran for 20 minutea si moat likely ita the diaphrams then or the ceramic fittings?

I would just throw a new pump on it. I believe its a CAT 3CP. I sold my Steamway unit a few yrs back. Its working for its 3 rd life now.
If rebuild labor is that high just throw new parts at it.

these techs charges 85.00 per hr i may just replace the seals my self but all these pressure washing places all they wanna do is ship ups and 40.00 to ship a 2lb package + duties here in canada they want 180.00 for the dam seals! the valve kits are close to 180.00 each and i need 2 sets add it up lol the states is almost half that or more

My local shop wants 550 for a pump rebuild the cat seems like a solid pump and hate to go to a less popular pump

To tell you the truth if I were in your situation I would throw a new pump on it and have that confidence in a new unit.

yep seen that gonna order seals and go from there and the thing still squirts i will keep those seals for my next cat pump i rather stick with cat there top of the line

Excellant Question! Service people for TM'S are getting less reliable in my opinion.
Just had mine in for service and experienced the Exxon Valdeese of Truck Mounts!

water is gushing out the truck mount was on for 20 minutes so its not the pistons or the ceramic fittings inside or anything so im presuming its the seals it sat for almost 1.5 years so yes the pumps seals is bad but when i get the seals and its something else what am i gonna do now? sit and wait for another 2 weeks for a brand new part... the pump is over 15 years old im guessing sense the series is a 31 series and they replace the 31 with the 310....

here in canada they want for the cat 310 pump 1500! please tell me how its almost 50% more here in canada then the states are u freaking kidding me? and the carpet cleaning techs wont even touch it the pressure washer guys has to do the labor because my dealers are either prochem or hydramaster and they refuse to work on anything other then there problematic units

Unless the water is coming out of the head.. Cats are great pumps, but they are disposable. I will only put new seals in once then it's a new pump.. At 15 years I would just replace it, ShaneT on this board has a 310 pump for sale I believe..

When you call the office for service questions ask for TW. As for your issues I'm trying to follow what's going on but it is a little confusing. If you have a 2100 then you want to upgrade to a cat 5cp it is a 4100 then it would be a cat 3cp either way you will want hot and dry seals not the ones that were posted above. As for pricing we will take care of you juts call TW Monday and he will help you figure out what is actually wrong and what you actually need. And sorry i wasn't there I had neck surgery Wednesday and didn't get let out of the hospital until Thursday and the wife made me stay home today.

OK so the pump is leaking on the left hand side where the seals are and it's leaking pretty bad I paid 1500 for this truck mount so I'm thinking a new pump

The suction is unreal the machines been modified for belt drive instead direct drive

If it froze in storage it should probably be replaced.

I'd check the rest of the unit out before investing too much in it. Otherwise you'll end up with a brand new pump and a $1,500.00 boat anchor.

There's a hx on the unit and works awesome just needs some Teflon tape and new fittings I found the car 310 pump on eBay for 533 but wanna shop around if anyone sees a cat pump please let me no thanks!

You sure you don't have a Steamway - labeled PowerClean machine? PC did make a model for Steamway a few years back. That unit would have a belt drive blower and heat exchangers.
You need to post some pics of this unit. Is it air cooled 2 cyl. or a 4 cyl inline engine?
