How many of you think its un-professional to have your tatoos exposed while your cleaning carpets? I have several,, the ones on my arms are hidden under my shirt and I have one on my leg that I keep covered by wearing pants even in the peak of summer. I would like to wear shorts, but some people look at you different if you have a tatoo.

What are your thoughts about this??

This is what comes to mind for me: One customer told me that she suprised when she met me because "usually the carpet cleaner looks like he just got out of prison." I keep my tat covered by my shirt. I don't want any bad impressions.

I feel the same way, but some people just don't care. I guess "TO EACH HIS OWN"..

I have a tattoo on my shoulder that is obviously covered up by a shirt.

I also have one on my hand that is not real big, but visable. That one is not an issue.

Clients don't want to see our bodies and especially out tattoos. Of course if you have a sexy body like me...the ladies are a bit more willing to see some skin.

But for most of you, dressing like a woman in Afghanistan would be appropriate.

I have a guy that wants to come to work for me and I would like him to. Clean cut, nicest most personable guy you ever want to meet. But he has tats all up and down his arms and neck. no way to hide them. I am afraid of what that customers first impression would be so I have hesitated in hiring him. Otherwise he would probably be my right hand man by now. to bad

John G...jus curious, do YOU allow nipple pictures on YOUR board.....?

I for one am greatly offended by you pornographic post....and would certainly hope that the administrator on THIS board has better judgement, and takes appropriate action......

My son's girlfriend has a full sleeve on one arm, and is working on the other arm. Nose ring, and other "personal" piercings, but she is the sweetest girl. She also works in the cell phone industry, and has many daily contacts with customers.

I personally wouldn't want an employee with any visible, or very few, tattoos. All my son's do have their sisters name tattooed on their inside forearms, which starts conversations (Danielle died in 2002) I think that's pretty novel of them.

I have a tattoo on my right arm but I normally start the job with a jacket on or something to cover it up. Then once I get to know the customer a littler better and they get a feel for who I am I tend to pull the jacket off and I normally wear no sleeve shirts cause I sweat my ass off when cleaning. My tattoo is a cross with my grandfathers Initials inside of it. Once ppl here why I got it normally they understand I am not a bad person for having a tattoo but memorializing someone I loved

I think tattoos on our hands mean we are above average in looks and sexiness.

I am pretty sure that is what means.

As long as there is no nudity or racial indications don't worry about it. I have several on arms chest and back 32 years riding Harleys. I used to worry about how it would be interpreted. But now most everyone has someone in their family with either tattoos or rides a bike. I wear a uniform keep a clean van speak respectful, maintain the appearances of my equipment . When the customers finally do notice the tattoos it passes right by them, they notice more your skills and professionalism. 20 years ago a different story. Be yourself customers don't like imposters.

Myself- I generally don't care about a person's tattoos or piercings, but a couple days ago I went into a pizza place, the server girl had tattoos on both arms up to the shoulder, and on her neck, a nose ring, and maybe 10 piercings in each ear, plus wild colored hair that stood straight up.

Sorry, but I lost my appetite with the totality of it.

There is a limit for me, and I went elsewhere for lunch.

i have 6 rather large tatts. one is exposed on my left forearm of a 200lb tarpon i caught last year. i have never had anything other than people ask about it and want to see it.
i would not hire anyone that had anything on their neck or face.

Honestly, I almost hate to admit this.

It is a butterfly or a flower. Not sure. A friend and I had been drinking a bit and asked this Vietnamese guy to give us a tattoo. He took out a stick and tied three needles to the stick and dipped the needles in ink and jabbed the shit out of us!

Hurt like a......, well you know.

Anyway, that was right before I went in the Marine Corps. Trust me, I got a lot of flak from the DI's over them.

So honestly, I am not sure what the thing on my hand is. The one on my shoulder is my initials.

Lisa and The Dawg.....

So what shape are they.....?

C'mon Guys! I wanna know what bawb is getting at.

BTW, I was on the city bus with my friend, we were freshmen in highschool.... I seriously scary looking dude walked past us, and I noticed tear-drops running down both cheeks. (Tear-drop tats) TONS OF THEM! The guy got off the bus a few stops later. My friend nudges me and says, "I'm glad that idiot got of the bus, another couple of minutes and I would have gotten up and told him what a stupid fad those tear-drop tattoos are."

I crapped my pants.

Once I gained my composure I let my friend know that the man got one of those tear-drops for each person he killed, and if he had said anything he would have been another tattoo on that man's face.

He thanked me for saving his life.
