You should really start with a website. Simple but powerful. You don't have to spend much to have a small one built.

You can still get on Google Places without a webisite. I know of a guy here who doesn't have his website listed and is still numer 1 in his area.

Cold calling residential just doesn't work. Cold calling (on the phone) commercial only works if you have a good plan that includes realling good folllow up and follow through.

Usually within a few days you can have your name on the internet and hopefully get some customers from it.
There area other ways...tons of them...but I would start there.
