...and this is why we hear that the carpet has to be cleaned "with water only" from the janitorial crews. The manufacturers, retailers and even installers have had so many problems they don't trust any in-house staff, much less the scruffy commercial carpet cleaner.I agree with Mikey I tried the same about 14yrs ago . I was called by the cleaning company at the local VA hospital . I had my Hydramaster 470D and a RX 20 what more would I need.Wow big mistake nothing worked. The carpets were ONLY shampooed with something like spartans shampoo . I think this was more than 8 years of this only. They NEVER wanted to use water extraction on the cgd because of the people and traffic.I did the best I could at that time. The carpets turned white while extracting and looked really bad the truckmount loaded up with foam. They were unhappy with me & I was unhappy with me.I tried for about an hour and packed up and left. I heard latter that the employees would use the cleaning shampoo straight no mix. They latter replaced the carpets and I never went back thank goodness. jz
If it smells like bananas, it's probably an acetone derivative. I've seen some in house staff deliberately mess things up, especially if they are pissed at their bosses. Like burning tiles with propane burnishers.Spartan's plus 5 drys to a powder and vacs out pretty well so it must have been something else they were misusing. Unless they were not vacuuming and really were using it straight up which seems hard to believe. Are in house janitors really that stupid ? It has a pretty strong banana smell from the solvent. I can't imagine using it straight up.
After ten years of heavy use its due for replacement anyway. With just a Devastator, great chemistry and an Aerotech..
What was I thinking?
We Cimexed this place so many times in between the gobthousands of camp kids stomping it to death.
This time it was smellier and spottier than normal so we ( finally ) found a place to drain and went for it.
The waste water was unbelievably brown but the splotchiness was horrible.
Needed a Zipper SS or an RX20 to flush it properly but nada
Ended up cimexing over it to hide the splotches.
I'm going to hell.
again.

I used to have an amyl acetate spotter. Worked like a charm on just about anything, probably including my brain. I think it's banned now. Haven't seen anything like it in a long time.Amazing I have never seen that but nothing surprises me. Seems like acetone and similar solvents should be rinsed.
