I think you get to a point of diminishing returns.

Can a tech with a single wand unit leave the carpet as dry by making a extra vacuum pass, as the tech with a big blower that makes no dry pass?

What is the first thing the tech with the big blower is taught? "You don't need dry passes with this machine."
:winky:

Even with a bigger blower we always do twice as many dry passes as wet passes-- but do less total passes.

If you are an O/O and don't plan on growing or hiring help in the future-- then buying a Massive TM- (AT/Vortex, Everest, or 870)-- might be a waste on money and you wont have the volume of business to make the payments.

Your post title says "ART"
Interesting you worded it that way, I don't think I would go that far to say art ....but there are some that have mastered the craft or ability to clean carpet.

I will say this not to long ago my TM broke down in the middle of the job, (voltage reg went out) so I jumped into my van B-lined to the rental yard where I picked up a awesome R2 D2 looking pos unit, it did have 2 cords for what ever reason so I plugged them in and turned on this powerful beast of a machine.
I did somehow hook a piece of my 2.0 hose to it and used my PC Quad wand with a hole glide. Now I did all this because I was sure the pre spray was going to eat the carpet fibers up if I left it in there.
The amazing thing the carpet came out fine, it was slower than pouring molasses on a cold day but I got the job done and nobody knew any different??
So you tell me, why is there guys that can't clean with a # 3 #4 #5 blower machine?
Why can some play golf at top level but others can't maybe it is just this way so that this industry like in all other things in the world there are some that make it to the very TOP LEVEL ???
I am not saying I am at the top, I am just your average hard working/golfer hacking his way through life

Small blowers n Porties-- even a rag on an obital machine will get the job done.. massive blowers are a waste of power and money IF you dont plan on dual wanding or doing long hose runs.
For most single operators a Butler or 570 would be more then enough Power-- IMHO.
lets Be Real here--- people will buy a rage or 370 because Thats what they can afford--- but once they are making Real Money they really should upgrade if they want to improve..

All cleaning is a matter of degree.

Better equipment will help a company to be more efficient but the truth is we all clean (and dry) to OUR standards.

An excellent tech can make it happen with almost anything. Give that tech all the best equipment and watch out. An premium product being put out with efficiency!
