So many attacks on Rotovac from the same small group for copying the Zipper. The Bonzer is no more a copy of the Zipper than the Mytee T-Rex and the Hoss 700 are copies of the Rotovac rotary jet extraction technology that was invented by the owner of Rotovac, Cliff Monson. Erik did not invent the dual vacuum port, it was patented in 1972 and is now expired. Erik's patent covers his reversible round Teflon glides and Rotovac's are half round non reversible glides that allow for shorter holes and better vacuum flow. The shape of the Bonzer head is different, the handle is different, the spray jets setup is different, no tools needed to adjust wheels and lighter weight When we communicated with Erik's patent attorney he did not indicate that Rotovac is infringing on the Zipper patent. We asked him to please inform us if they found any infringement and we would be willing to discuss a royalty or change our design to not infringe. Rotovac has been in the business of inventing, designing and producing carpet cleaning tools for professionals for over 35 years. It is our main mission to produce the best cleaning tools at the best price for professional carpet cleaners around the world. We commend Erik for producing the Zipper with it's quality features however do not agree that he invented or owns the exclusive rights to be the only producer of dual vacuum port technology. We were getting requests from our customers for the Zipper so we asked to become a distributor for Zipper and we're turned down by Erik. Our engineers then looked into the patent situation and began designing the Bonzer with respect to not infringe on any Zipper patent. We are now getting rave reviews from Bonzer owners like this one we just received this week from a Zipper owner

Chuck,

The reason I haven’t responded to your email until now is that were making money with the Bonzer!! We love it…as usual Rotovac makes extremely good “ user friendly” equipment .

We love how well it cleans and the smooth operation. Absolutely no back fatigue whatsoever. We like the way it folds up to where we use hardly any space in the truck to store it. For as powerful as it is, it’s extremely lightweight. We know this because we’ve owned a Zipper for several months. This truly out performs the Zipper in residential cleaning in our opinion. It is so much easier to navigate around then the Zipper. My guys always want to use it instead of the wand! Thats saying something considering we have the best wands available.

Just a matter of time before we buy another one…we run Aeotechs and dual wanding might be a thing of the past! How about dual Bonzering…LOL

Since u asked our opinion the only thing we’ve had an issue with is the valve. For some reason ours is sticking and starting to go. Have you had this problem with anyone else? Other then the valve issue no problems and very happy with it.

Thanks,

Bruce

So you bought a Zipper, put it on a workbench and figured out some clever ways to try and circumvent Eriks patent. How very ethical of you. You say you had customers asking you for a Zipper. All you had to do is refer them to Erik. You don't have to supply every tool under the sun.

My thoughts are guys who will buy a Bonzer will never buy a zipper they're broke dicks always cutting corners.

That said I like my 360i with a brush head more than my hoss 700.

Funny thing is a lot of this small group that bashs the Bonzer were loyal Rotovac customers, look @Mark Saiger.

Seriously you had to know people would look at a knock off as a knock off????

Just take your sales from the market your aiming at and hopefully it doesn't effect other tools you were selling.

It has to be or "Nick" wouldn't be here trying to justify the ripoff.

There again if I tripped over a pile of face squrting upholstery tools everyday, I'd be trying to justify my current rip too. :shifty:

I could see your reasoning on why they're copying the zipper, but that first paragraph was a little harsh to the consumers. The reason people get into this business is because most of us are broke dicks, unless you're some big dog buying an established business

Go a head buy a Bonzer broke dick!

Ok my reasoning here is guys cut corners trying to save money, we've all been broke dicks at some point in time!

Like me Vegas when I got a Rotovac upholstery tool for $299.00 to go with my 3 SS TOOLS.

Saiger made me do it. He's totally a broke dick.

Jk.

I have an RV upholstery tool bought in an auction here, $270 if I remember. I would sell it here cheap, but the solution hose broke at an internal fitting, weak design.

My hose quick disconnect came undone while cleaning but I snapped it back together.

This reminds me of the BUBBLE I found myself in .....its all about the MONEY always is...and the new Mytee wand reminds me of an internal oversized Upholstery tool.....ten years from now there will be a light 4 inch hose and everyone will be using these tools with 4 glides and 3.5 pipe wet carpet will be a thing of the past and the first one to do it .....well

I think he didn't like it bacause
