The curse of ATL...

As someone who gets to talk on the phone with Cleaners all around the country, I’ve determined that the Atlanta GA are is by far the toughest area to be an owner operator in.


Just a few of the reasons why….

The franchises, of which there are many, have created a false sense of value through massive advertising campaigns that an O/O can’t overcome. It is nearly impossible to convey through websites and ads that you and maybe your son or tech, will be taking the time to deal with tough stains, filtration soiling, pre vacuuming, excessive soiling created by large families in small homes, agitation and dwell time etc. The big guys imply that these things happen, but they don’t.

You must be a master communicator, extremely perceptive of the circumstances of why you were called out, physically and mentally gifted in both endurance, hustle and understanding of the science of cleaning and a charming people person. If you have all that, there are much easier ways to earn a living. So MOSY flooring owners have no idea people like us even exist, and it’s a very hard sell.

Traffic is horrible.

Workers (and husbands) across the board from the shipping companies to retail to carpet techs have been drinking from the laziness fountain for far too many generations now.

Our local tribe members use their EBT cards to fill their shopping carts with gallons of strawberry soda, probably a connection somewhere..

I currently have my little area about 1 1/2hrs northeast of ATL with no problem of the franchise pollutants. But I went behind Stanley's work yesterday surprisingly.

He complained that the "wife" suggested them and they were constantly trying to add on services to up the ticket. And the carpet still looked like crap when they left, lol

I think they were pleased with my services. I'm surprised SS drove up here to clean it when they have an unlimited customer list in ATL. Maybe they're thinking about putting a location up here somewhere.

Or, they’re hurting. Lots of turns at $35 per room still makes a business hard to manage. I can’t imagine having to make a multi-employee payroll at those rates. I can’t imagine having to keep multiple routes manned with the quality employees are bringing today. Seriously, they’re probably scraping for jobs this time of year.
