I like using Diamond Impregnated Pads on Travertine Floors.
Take a look at this Video on the ease of use for this type of maintenance.

The longest lasting pads I've found that will give you the most for your dollar are STONE PRO D.I.P. pads. They make it between 2000 and 3000 sq.ft. (between 4 to 6 jobs. depending on the sqaure footage.)
