There's a sector of individuals in the carpet cleaning industry that I refer to as the 2%r's.
( Its actually 1% but I'm on a mission to be kinder)
The 2% are blessed with a level of passion for our trade the drives us to spend a considerable $um on education, comraderie and charity at a level the 98% will never understand.
We invest in all three every day with time, effort and money, and most every year we need to gather to be amongst ourselves to confirm our commitment to being the very best flooring custodians a customer could ever wish for.
The newcomers who find us through His (or Mark Saiger's) guidance, get a 5 to 10 year head start to their budding businesses and possibly even more in finding their life's purpose.
The five to twenty year folks learn the very latest technical and business skills and strengthen life long friendships.
And us old veterans get high on dopamine for 3 to four days..

But the real winners are the families of the Ronald McDonald House, who usually have no idea why their House is full of nerds obsessing over a floor scrubber or a fancy mop looking thing.

This year's event had a more than usual amount of staff members watching and sharing their immense teary eyed gratitude for our huge hearts and passion. It's not quite clear to them why we do what we do, so two ladies from upper management joined us for two hours at our hotel to watch us earn $24,000 from auctioned goods and services that we hand over to the House, to compliment the $35k +/- worth of cleaning we performed.

That felt amazing..

But the testimony from the new guys and gals are what makes me continue and push through.
It's not easy when people who commit to being a speaker or team leader don't fulfill their roles. It's challenging to keep smiling when our human conditions get ugly for an unchecked moment, but a relief when God makes it clear as to why..

While I know this year may have not been the best for a few, in my heart it will be very hard to beat.
I want to thank all of those who stepped up on stage to share your stories, as the most curious person in the room that I am, I find you all fascinating and I cherish you all!

Keep growing my friends, purpose and path can take hard turns but we all win when YOU push through..
